Abstract
Pure (undoped) and Zinc, Copper (Cu) doped CdO thin films are prepared using
spray pyrolysis technique on glass substrates. Influence of Zn & Cu doping on the structural,
optical and electrical properties of CdO thin films were reported. XRD analysis reveals that
the prepared pure and Zn & Cu doped CdO films show polycrystalline nature with face
centered cubic structure. Also, Zn & Cu doping significantly increases the crystalline and
changes the crystallite size. SEM images shows grains which are uniform and spherical
shaped grains. The transmittance of the prepared CdO films recorded in the UV visible
spectra show 40 to 70% in the visible region. The estimated optical band gap values are blue
shifted in Zn doped CdO thin films. Hall measurement shows that the films are n-type
semiconductor. Also, it is observed that when the Cu doped, the electrical resistivity is high
when compared to Zn doped CdO thin films.

Abstract
Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIFs) are widely used in recent times for catalysis
and biomolecules detection owing to their excellent mechanical and morphological features.
Many diseases and disorders are associated with the vitamins, amino acids and
neurotransmitters among them, serotonin (5-HT), plays a dynamic role in behavior and
biological functions, for instance, temperament, appetite, sleep, reflux action, and digestion.
Also, alteration in its level paves way for severe problems including Alzheimer and
Parkinson’s syndrome. So, the need of its detection at early stage is very much concerned. In
this direction herein, we successfully synthesized Nickel-Iron based ZIF (NiFe-ZIF)
nanofibers for the sensing of the neurotransmitter serotonin (SER). Further, the
electrochemical behavior investigated by electrochemical studies ensures its high
conductivity and sensing ability towards SER. Moreover, the SWV studies also exhibit a
wide linear range of 40 nM-30 μM with a detection limit of 3 nM confirming an excellent
platform role for biomedical applications. Moreover, the real-time application of the
proposed sample is also investigated by serum with the exhibition of the exceptional outcome
of the proposed biosensor.

Abstract
4-Nitrophenol is widely used as the precursor material for the production process of
pesticides, plastics, dyes, explosives and pharmaceutical products. Nitrophenol is highly toxic
and can induce cancer at higher doses. Hence, it is important to detect 4-nitrophenol in the
aqueous solution. The objective of the present project is to prepare graphene quantum dots
(GQD) by a green method and use it to develop an electrochemical sensor for 4-nitrophenol
for practical applications. Towards this goal, GQD is synthesized by simple pyrolysis of citric
acid [112]. The formed GQD is characterized by SEM, TEM, IR, XRD, UV-visible and
photoluminescence studies. GQD is drop coated on the glassy carbon electrode and used as
the sensing material for the detection of 4-nitrophenol. The different experimental
parameters such as effect of scan rate and pH are optimized. The sensor calibration plots are
constructed using square wave voltammetry. The possible interference effects have been
studied. The practical utility of the sensor is tested by real sample analysis using standard
addition method in tap water sample.

Abstract
Graphene was prepared by electrochemical reduction of graphite oxide. Here, the prepared
electrode was polymerized by the monomer of o-phenylinediamine. The modified electrodes
were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Raman spectra and
electrochemical tests. The electrochemical reduction of oxygen by used PoPD/graphene/GCE
electrode was studied by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry methods. The oxygen
reduction reaction has been carried out in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution. In the electrochemical
reaction, PoPD/graphene/GCE exhibits seven times higher current and a favourable potential
shift of 135 mV than the PoPD/GCE electrode.
