ABSTRACT

The interrelations between human nutrition and human gene expression are topics which have

been of great interest to the medical community for decades. The knowledge of vitamins,

minerals and other nutrients and their deficiencies have been of great importance in the treatment

of various diseases and disorders. Moreso, the fact that genes affect how nutrients are digested,

absorbed and metabolised and at the same time, nutrients also affect gene expression has allowed

us to see more into the dynamics of the human body. Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics, albeit

fields in their infancy are potential sources of incredible medical insights and even in their

infancy have shown themselves to be of great medical relevance.
