SERVICE INFORMATION LETTER

SUBJECT: Conversion of Emergency Oxygen Portable Assemblies

APPLICABLE TO: This SIL is applicable to the conversion of Emergency Oxygen Portable
Assemblies 176961-11 and 176961-12 into 176961-13 and 176961-14 as shown in the table below

PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED: None.

REASON: The tie wrap that secures the mask tote bag interferes with the proper clamping of
the portable assemblies 176961-11 & 176961-12 into their mounting brackets

EFFECTIVITY: All units carrying either 176961-11 or 176961-12 must be converted per Table 1
and the “Action” described below.

ACTION:
1. Return all affected portable assemblies to B/E Aerospace
2. Remove cable tie (865101-03) that secures the mask tote bag to the neck of the assembly, by cutting
and disposing.
3. Add cable tie (865101-15) item 8 in “Illustration A” and item 10 in “Illustration B” around body of
assembly as shown in “Illustration A” and in “Illustration C”
4. Add new nameplate (862098) to conform to the appropriate drawing (Table 1). The information
added to the nameplate must conform to that as shown in “Illustration A”, “Illustration B” and in
“Illustration C”.
5. Return the portable assembly to the sender
