DESIGN BASIS
The Sewage treatment plant is designed to treat the Waste water from M/s. MAGNA HOSPITAL ,
which has the following characteristics. The plant Blower should be operated for 24 hrs.
No. of Beds = 50
No.of Attenders = 50
Total - 100 X 100 Liters ( As per the TNPCB Norms) = 10,000 Liters
For Peak waste water discharge ( assume additional ) shall be = 4,400 Liters
SEWAGE CHARACTERISTICS
ASSUMPTIONS
The raw Sewage wastewater from the M/s. MAGNA HOSPITAL is collected in a Under
Ground Septic tank. The Overflow water is collected in a collection Tank . From the
Tank the Waste water Pumped to the Aeration tank from the aeration tank is passed to a
clarifier tank for separation of bio mass and the settled bio-mass and the settled bio-
sludge are re-circulated to the aeration tank to maintain the MLSS (Mixed Liquor
Suspended Solids) level in the desired range. Recirculation from the clarifier tank bio
sludge is 40-50% of the Sewage flow rate to the aeration tank. If MLSS is more than
4500 mg/l the excess bio sludge from the clarifier tank is Drain the Sludge Drying bed.
Here the sludge separated and the clear water goes to the collection tank.
MLSS level in the aeration tank will be maintained in the range of 3000-4000 mg/l and
a sludge age of 15-20 days is maintained by regulation of the return sludge. While
keeping in a measuring cylinder, the slurry in the aeration tank is brown color and the
settlability of suspended solids is fast. Healthy bacterial sludge will settle fast and
occupy nearly ¼ of total volume of the cylinder in 30 minutes. The clear overflow from
the clarifier Tank is collected by Final collection sump.
From this collection sump, the treated Sewage is pumped to pressure Sand Filter
followed by Activated Carbon Filter to another collection tank for the removal of very
fine suspended solids, odor and turbidity. The outlet from collection tank will be send
to the Gardening Purpose / Flushing .
Note: The parameters from different sampling points shown above are required to be tested as follows.
