“Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your inner voice.”- Steve Jobs.

I am a visual thinker, but I never visualized myself working in the fields I always heard
about. When I started learning about businesses and management, about the distinct
aspects of an organization, what stood out to me the most was marketing and how
innovative and creative that department can be.

Choosing Commerce as my stream in 11th standard initially attracted me to the business

studies subject and I was also enamoured with the consumer behaviour topic in
economics. My interest in marketing was developed while studying these subjects.
Solving case studies related to business and marketing came naturally to me, soon it
became not just a subject but a prospective career.

In my first year of college, I joined the finance and marketing club called Impulse. I was
involved in hosting small workshops, and I actively participated in pitching marketing
ideas for imaginary products, slogan-making contests for existing brands, and marketing
your made-up products. In my second year, I joined as an intern at Mummy’s Yummy
which is a company that produces natural salt, dos batter and organic daliya. I conducted
several market surveys and analyzed the availability and demand of said products in
different stores and learned the competitive rates of the products. At the end of the second
year, I joined the digital marketing team as an intern at Shakti foams Pvt Ltd and handled
their Instagram page. I made a ton of trending posts and several reels. I used canva as a
tool for creating posts for the Instagram page. In the last semester, I wrote a term paper
on the topic “The study on the impact of Covid-19 on Marketing firms”. All of this kept
building up the obvious interest towards marketing and the numerous options with which
that marketing could be paired.

Some of my friends, having their businesses often gave me the chance of testing my hand
at marketing. I occasionally helped them out with coming up with marketing ideas and
generating posts of their respective products for social media. It helped me gain first-hand
experience of what working in a real business would be like.

Marketing is just not simply selling a product; it is much more than that. It is about
creating a connection between the product and people. It is how a product is marketed
that makes the public relate to the said product and compel them to buy it, it is about
making people want to buy the product marketed. I was allured by the numerous ways
and ideas that went into marketing any said product; I realized that the way how a
product is marketed can actually build a product. It’s not just simply putting up
advertisements or images, in fact, whatever content is published for marketing a product
should tell the story about the product. It eventually also reflects on the organization,
what type of organization they are, how the products are made, the organization’s
relationship with the product, and why they want people to use their product. What
attracts me the most, is how much marketing has evolved in recent years and how there is
a higher scope for a more creative thinking process is endless.

More than that, marketing is not the only domain I’m interested in. I want to expand my
knowledge and expertise on the other dynamic parts of running and working in an
organisation. I feel Big data and Business Analytics would be perfect for me and my
interests

I have an acute interest in pursuing masters in Big Data and Business Analytics. It would
offer me a wider canvas for learning about business and it’s ongoings and also help in
learning marketing in a new way, which is big nowadays and the years to come; digital
marketing. I am excited to study different aspects of Business Analytics and how data
helps in managing complex business problems.; I absolutely cannot wait to study the
topic in-depth and evolving digital space. And not just digital marketing but the other
modules like service management, relationship and network marketing, marketing theory
and concepts; all of these modules are what helped me make the decision about studying
Business Analytics and Big data

After in-depth research, I believe your university is the step I should be taking to achieve
my goals. I am confident that Queen Mary University of London is the perfect place to
refine my skills.

I would be honoured if I were to be considered eligible to be studying in your

programme.
