1. (a) Discuss the significance of the sacrifice of Iphigenia and how is it viewed by Clytemnestra. (8)

(b) What is the role of Gods in the play Agamemnon? (8)

2. (a) Agamemnon is the story of Clytemnestra rather than the king. Explain with reference to the character
sketch of Clytemnestra. (10)

(b) Describe Agamemnon as a Tragic Hero. (6)

3. The tragedy in Oedipus the King seems to lie in contrast between the supreme will of the Gods and the
vain attempts of mankind to escape the evil that threatens him. Discuss. (10)

(b) Critically analyse the role that Tiresias plays in Oedipus the King. (6)

4. Do you agree with the idea that Oedipus is a wise and resourceful man who is more sinned against than
sinning? Give reasons for your answer. (16)

5. (a) What are Medea's reasons for killing her children? Is this an easy choice for her? (12)

(b) What is the role of Aegeus in Medea? (4)

6. (a) Discuss Medea as a revenge tragedy. (16)

7. What are the important themes projected in Aristophanes’ The Frogs? (16)

8. Discuss Aristophanes’ presentation of irony and satire in The Frogs. (16)
