4.Procedures: (Indicate the steps you would take to teach the lesson and number of minutes for each step)
4.1 Introductory 1. Review pupil’s prior knowledge by asking the following:
Activity  What do you see inside this room?
 Can you name them?
10 minutes  How can you classify these materials? (Is it solid, liquid or gas?)
 (The teacher gathers some solid materials identified by the pupils)
After gathering some liquids materials, ask:
 Are these solid materials the same or different from one another?
 In what way do they differ from one another? (To answer this question, ask the pupils to
accomplish the graphic organizer.)
2. Introduce the graphic organizer shown below. (The teacher can copy this on the
board or on the manila paper to be posted on the board.

 Say: Look at the solid materials you identified. In what way, do they differ from one another?
 Write your answer on the circles of the diagram.
 (Pupils may exclude other outer circles of the diagram when not needed.)
3. Present the lesson:
 Take one solid materials from the gathered materials (i.e. a piece of paper)
 Tell the pupils to take note of the distinctive characteristics/properties of the chosen materials
(size, shape, color, texture, etc.).
 For today’s lesson, you will think of some ways by which you could change the solids
materials, and then observe the change that happened to each material.

4.2 Activity 1. Divide the class into 4 groups.

2. Let the pupils list solid materials found inside the classroom
15 minutes 3. Let them identify its property in each solid material.
4. Let them write on the manila paper all the data gathered.

4.3 Analysis 1. Ask the group presenters to post their output and have them present the result of the activity.
2. Take note of/check pupils’ responses to the activity questions.
7 minutes 3. How can you identify solid materials?
4. As a group, how did you find the activity?
5. Is anyone of you did not participate?
6. Is there a team work in the group?

4.4 Application
5 minutes Let the pupils list at least 10 solid materials found inside their bags.
