Name of the project. :Harnessing Energy from Waste heat

Introduction:This project is about generating electricity using
Thermoelectric generator(TEG) .This project is about producing
electricity from the waste heat generated as various places such as
industries, bakery, hotels , houses etc. This project consists of two
working models whose working is based on Seebeck Effect.
The Seebeck effect is a phenomenon in which a temperature
difference between two dissimilar electrical conductors or
semiconductors produces a voltage difference between the two
substances and hence produces an electric current.

Applications:This model can also be used to generate electricity from

waste heat generated at various places such as
• Automobiles(Exhaust pipes)
• Kitchen stove
• Factory (Furnace)
• In Fitbit bands(Human body heat)
• Chimnies in Kitchen
• Hotels,bakery(ovens)

Description of models?
1 .STEG (Solar Thermal Electric Generator)
This is a model which can generate electricity using Thermoelectric
generator(TEG) using solar energy .STEG can be alternative method
of generating energy using solar energy instead of Solar Panels in
near future. The topside of the model is an aluminium plate which is
painted with a high temperature black paint to improve heat
absorption from the sun. This plate is attached to the hot side of the
TEG module using thermal grease. cold side of the TEG is attached to
the heat sink.
