For this discussion, you will select a specific metabolic disorder.

Describe the defect in

metabolism responsible for the disorder identifying any enzyme(s) involved. Analyze the

symptoms of the disease based on the metabolic disturbance. Discuss therapy available for

the treatment of the disorder. Does the therapy treat the symptoms or the metabolic nature of

the disease? Explain.

- The series of metabolic processes that take place in each living body to provide

sustainable power to perform essential functions like maturation, creation, and

fertilization is known as metabolism. Enzymes, on the other hand, are a type of

compound that works like an initiator to speed up biological processes within organisms

yet do not alter the way these changes occur (Kornberg, n.d.). Consequently,

a metabolism-related illness can be defined as the interruption of the metabolism's regular

operation brought about by a medical disorder or other condition. Additionally, a

metabolic condition could be due to the absence of an essential vitamin or protein

required for chemical reactions, unusual interactions impeding metabolism, a lack of

nutrients, or by a medical condition affecting essential structures (Khan Academy, 2015).

'Lactose intolerance' constitutes one of the most prevalent metabolic disorders.

An immunological problem does not cause lactose intolerance. The inability to properly

absorb lactate, which is mostly present in milk along with other milk-based goods, is a

symptom of this condition. The body's capacity to digest lactose is now lower in about

65% of people worldwide. 90% of the young people in East Asia have the condition,

making it the region with the highest prevalence (Genetic Home Reference, n.d.).
I was lactose intolerant for about 2 years from the year 2015-2017. I used to have

an upset stomach almost all the time. This disease shows symptoms including abdominal

discomfort, flatulence, cramps in the abdomen, and uncomfortable diarrhea.

Sadly, this condition has no curative therapy or remedy. Nevertheless, the body

receives lactase from proteolytic enzyme-containing pills that are recommended by a

medic. The easiest strategy to treat the condition is to alter your daily routine, eating

higher in calcium greens and avoiding dairy products. The latest study on this condition

remains ongoing, and fortunately, a medication called RP-G28 is currently undergoing

research trials (Genetic Home Reference, n.d.).
