How do you know the applicant? How long have you known them for?

Xyz is my Business Law specialization student I know for the past three years and have
interacted at length during her pursuit of B.A.LLB(Hons) course at National Law University
and Judicial Academy. As a part of the course curriculum, I have taught her subjects which
include Alternative Disputes Resolution System, International Business Transactions,
Mergers, Acquisitions and Antitrust Law. In addition, I have guided and supervised her for
her Business Law Specialization Projects and Moot Memorials. While acting as a guide,
supervisor and professor to Xyz throughout the latter half of her undergraduate days, I have
come to know more about her qualities.

What would you say are the applicant's key strengths and talents?

Of the many traits that I have learnt about Xyz, one highly commendable trait is her
dedication to learn at each step. Xyz is a highly focused and devoted student. Her hard work
and persistence have to be appreciated. In my course of observing her throughout lectures,
Xyz is distinctively attentive. She has reflected the same level of dedication across every
course. She contributes to class discussions in a productive manner. Xyz undertakes the extra
mile to understand a concept taught to her by researching that concept further and engaging
in discussions with me. This sets her apart from the other students. As a result, she has
outshined in her batch by constantly performing excellent in academics, maintaining her
position within the Top 3.

Apart from holding her academic position, Xyz is proactive, inquisitive and pursues diverse
projects not limited to academic projects. She pursues social activities and believes in making
contributions to society's betterment, which reflects her empathy. While working with her for
academic projects, I learnt about her involvement with NGOs to undertake food and clothes
distribution activities. As a result of her contribution, more than 100 people were benefitted. I
highly appreciate her efforts in ensuring basic needs to the needy.

Xyz is a bright, motivated and goal-oriented person. She pushes herself beyond academic
pursuits to attain practical knowledge by engaging in internships. During her summer and
winter breaks, she has interned with several organizations. To cite an instance, Xyz was an
intern for Trilegal, a Tier I Law Firm in India, where she worked with the corporate law team.
In that internship, she successfully handled tasks ranging from research to drafting for the
team, meeting all the deadlines assigned to her. I appreciate her eagerness to learn with a
practical approach. This quality of her allowed her to approach the Business Law
Specialization Project titled 'The Role of Mergers and Acquisitions: An Analysis' practically.

Another credible trait possessed by Xyz is her role as a team player. She is supportive and a
good problem solver. As a part of the curriculum, I have observed her undertaking group
assignments to ensure that the whole team grows. To ensure that objective, she patiently
catered to all the members' viewpoints and integrated them. For context, in a regular class
assignment, there was disagreement among the group members regarding choosing their
group representative due to overlapping interests of her group members. Xyz handled this
situation tactfully by encouraging discussions among her group members where she brought
up the idea of choosing their representative based on evaluation of each group member
through the lens of fixed criteria. Consequently, her team was able to select the member with
the highest ability to represent their group that led her team to present the assignment
precisely and accurately. I truly appreciate her effort in enabling her group to surpass the
performance of other teams.

What would you say are the applicant's key weaknesses or areas for improvement?

Xyz finds it hard to say no. Due to her inability to express her refusal, at times, she is
overburdened with work and ends up taking stress. When I was guiding her for her project
titled 'The Role of Mergers and Acquisitions: An Analysis', I found that she was occupied
with numerous another task as she accepted all the tasks approaching her. As a result of
stress, she could not give her undiverted attention to few parts of the project. To help her
relax, I suggested that she prioritize the tasks at hand and then approach one at a step. Since
then, she followed my advice and sorted her tasks with a specific timeline which she shared
with me. After sticking with the prioritized timeline, she improved her lacking parts of her
project. Moreover, she was able to manage the assignments approaching her effectively. As
she pursued this new course of action, she is more relaxed and can manage tasks better.

In which areas of development has the applicant progressed most in the time you've
known them?

Xyz has remarkably developed the skill of multitasking. Initially, it was difficult for her to
cope up with several tasks simultaneously. But with a proper plan for implementation and
practice, Xyz was able to learn the skill of prioritizing tasks and then managing them
effectively to meet the goals of all the tasks. As she developed this skill, it helped her
immensely manage her daily academic work and extra-curricular activities.

If you are a professional referee, would you work with the applicant post-programme?
If you are an academic referee, what will be the applicant's main contributions to the
programme?

Xyz is extraordinary in all aspects. She has a mixture of qualities reflecting her diverse
nature, which can be channelized to a highly successful professional. She has a high
academic calibre. Other than academic potentials, Xyz displays leadership traits. She is
emphatic and believes in giving back to society, due to which she takes an active part in
contributing to the upliftment of the indigent. She also has strong leadership traits such as
responsibility, goal-driven, team player. With the right guidance and nurturing, I am sure she
will excel in any endeavour she undertakes. With the qualities and skills that she has, Xyz
will be an august addition to your community at LBS, and she will contribute positively to
the programme. The programme would help her develop her skills and knowledge further,
thereby ensuring her success in future.
