Activity 1. Haiku
Haiku- is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5,7,5 syllable count. Often focusing on images from
nature, haiku emphasizes simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression.
Example:
“The Old Pond” by Matsuo Bashō
An old silent pond
A frog jumps into the pond—
Splash! Silence again.
Direction: Think of one important moment in your lives and compose a Haiku poem. Put your Haiku in a long bond
paper.
Activity 2: Read and analyze the poem written by Carlos Angeles titled “Gabu”.
Direction: In a long bond paper, draw your interpretation of the poem “Gabu”. You may use digital art in doing this
activity.
