New Delhi, 21st February 2023

The Kejriwal government is working on a large scale to get rid of the sewerage-related problems of
Delhiites and to improve the sewerage network. Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has approved a
project of Rs 64 lakh for cleaning of trunk sewer line from Punjabi Bagh SPS to Shiv Mandir Manohar
Park (East Punjabi Bagh) in Karampura Ward of Moti Nagar. After the cleaning of the Punjabi Bagh
trunk sewer line, the people of Manohar Park, Madan Park, Channamal Park, Jaidev Park, and East
Punjabi Bagh will not have to face the problem of sewer overflow. Deputy Chief Minister Manish
Sisodia has directed the Delhi Jal Board to complete this work on a priority basis and within the time
limit.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia informed that “the desilting of the trunk sewer line from SPS
Punjabi Bagh to Shiv Mandir Manohar Park (East Punjabi Bagh) in Karampura ward of Moti Nagar will
be done by the Kejriwal government”. Due to the accumulation of silt in this sewer line, the flow of
sewerage water is decreasing. Excessive pumping from the SPS, especially during the rainy season,
leads to back-overflow. Because of this, there is a problem of water logging on the road, due to
which the problem of traffic jams also arises. Along with this, vehicles and pedestrians have to face a
lot of trouble in movement. In such a situation, after the desilting of the Punjabi Bagh trunk sewer
line, the people of the area will get freedom from the problem of sewer overflow. Along with this,
sewer flow will be smooth

The trunk sewer line will be cleaned up to 2.60 km

The total length of this sewer line to Punjabi Bagh SPS is about 2.60 km. This trunk sewer line starts
from Manohar Park and caters to the discharge from Manohar Park, Madan Park, Channamal Park,
Jaidev Park, East Punjabi Bagh, etc. Covering a distance of more than 15 km, it reaches Nilothi Plant
STP. The sewer does not flow properly due to blockage and silt etc. in the sewer line. To tackle the
problem Delhi government has instructed DJB to desilt the sewer line till Punjabi Bagh SPS so that
the sewerage system of the command area of Punjabi Bagh trunk sewer can be operated smoothly.
Along with this, all other drains in the area near Road No. 23, Manohar Park, etc. will be connected
to the DJB sewer line. This step will prove to be effective in preventing sewage from falling into the
Najafgarh drain.

The Kejriwal government engaged in improving the sewerage management system

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Kejriwal government is engaged in improving the
sewerage management system in Delhi. Jal Board has sewerage pumping stations in different areas
of Delhi, through which sewerage is pumped from the sewer line to STP. These pumping stations are
being monitored through IoT electronic devices. If the level of sewerage water in the pumping
station is higher than normal, the water board officials will get information about it immediately
from the sensor installed in the equipment, which will lead to better sewerage management. He said
that “Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has given the responsibility of cleaning the Yamuna to the Jal
Board, the way the Delhi government redeveloped the schools and hospitals in the previous tenure,
similarly this time the main objective is to clean the Yamuna on a priority basis. Is. Under this, 100
percent of the houses in Delhi are also being connected to the sewer line, so that the people of the
area can get relief from the sewer as well as a clean environment.
