Ball Experiment

Surfaces used in the experiment-metal, wood and bubble wrap.

We hope to see a higher bounce back on the wood surface than to the bubble wrap.

Wood>metal>bubble wrap

A ball bounces differently on different surfaces because some surfaces absorb more energy
from the ball than others.

The higher the density of the material is the lower the energy absorbed by the material will
resulting in a higher jump.

A soft surface will absorb energy and deform itself when the ball hits it. The ball will then
have less energy to transform back into kinetic energy and bounce less high than on hard
surfaces. On hard surfaces there is little give to the surface, and most of the energy is retained
within the ball causing it to bounce high back into the air.
