ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
From the classical era, the time tested panacea for economic growth has been the free
international trade. It has always been assumed that International trade is an engine of
economic growth. Based on the premise post world war period witnessed free international
trade particularly between developed and Underdeveloped countries. Economic histories of
70s and 80s have shown that International trade has made economic growth faster. It is
recently that most of the emergent economies and India in particular have realized that
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
international trade policies of 80s and 90s have been counterproductive and detrimental to the
industrialization and job creation. It is also said that Free Trade Agreements which India has
made with various regions and countries have increased India’s dependence on other nations
but comcomittantly our exports growth has been insignificant vis-a- vis other nations. During
COVID-19 Indian economy suffered a lot because of its dependence on international trade
for essential goods and services. Furthermore, World Trade Organizationions’s rules and
regulations are no longer giving due weight age to the concerns of developing countries. In
such a scenario when there is so much volatility, uncertainty and geo political threats and when
India need to increase its share in worlds export and at the same time reducing imports through
adopting policies like Self-reliant India. The conference will give opportunity to Industry
experts, academicians and policy makers to deliberate and discuss the issues related to
International trade so that India gets maximum advantage from International trade.
