Traditional Market Survey Reports

PART I
INTRODUCTION

I. BACKGROUND
The market is one of a variety of systems, institutions, procedures, social
relations and infrastructures whereby businesses sell goods, services and labor to
people in exchange for money. In mainstream economics, the concept of the
market is any structure that allows buyers and sellers for the exchange of goods,
services and information. The exchange of goods or services for money is a
transaction.
There are two roles in markets, buyers and sellers. The market facilitates
trade and enables the distribution and allocation of resources in society.
According to the classification, market consists of Traditional and Modern
Market Market. The traditional market is a meeting place for sellers and buyers
and sellers transactions characterized by the buyer directly and there is usually a
process of bargaining. The building usually consists of stalls or booths, stalls and

modern market is not much different than traditional markets, only sellers and

The formulation of the problem to be discussed are as follows:
1. How big is the opportunity to open a business in those markets?
2. What factors give you the opportunity to open a business?
3. What should be done by the prospective sellers to maximize sales in the
market?
4. What strategy should be done to develop the business?

III. PURPOSE
The purpose of the survey of the market sellers are in the market stations -
Depok terminal, is as follows:
1. To find opportunities to start a business in the market,
2. To identify the thing to do to start a business,
3. To determine the strategies in taking a business opportunity.
IV. TIME AND PLACE OF
Day : Saturday
Date : March 10, 2012.
Time : 11:32 to 14:55 pm.
Location of survey : Terminal Market - Station Depok, West Java.
Objects in the survey: children and adult clothing, handbags, shoes, nightgowns,
Muslim dress and veil, dolls, accessories, housewares, food needs.
Survey method: direct interview.
CHAPTER II
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

In identifying opportunities, can be analyzed based on the observations that


have been made as a basis the results. Opportunities that we can take to open a
business in the market is our review of the various aspects.
Based on the survey results obtained information that the seller in the market
Terminal- Depok Station is balanced between men and women. While the level of
entrepreneurial spirit in the youth market Terminal- Depok Station is still very low as
most are dominated by entrepreneurs who are older than 31 years.
  In addition, the results of our survey also concluded that businesses that fill
the stalls in the Market-Depok Station Terminal comes mostly from outside Depok.
This means that the indigenous people of Gurgaon have less interest in
entrepreneurship or less competitive in terms of capital and strategy compared with
those from outside Depok. It shows that they are very likely to residents from outside
Depok to open a business there.

the finished product, because the product is easy for resale to final consumers. Most
sellers in the market Terminal- Depok Station is selling the finished product in the
form of clothing such as clothing, shoes, sandals, bags and accessories. This is because
most buyers are concentrating on fashion. Prompting sellers to wrestle the sector.
Although dominated by goods, clothing, other necessities products are also not left
behind. There are vendors selling vegetables, fruit, a variety of snacks and other
household appliances.
If the seller ever seen in the effort to cultivate, it appears that most of the
sellers is a businessman who has long wrestle his efforts, the majority of sellers are
entrepreneurs who has been in the business for over 5 years.

product. This shows the seller strongly supports the development of SMEs in
Indonesia, although there are some products that are imported.

According to our interviews with some of the sellers in the market-Depok Station
Terminal, they claimed sales of its products is pretty good. Gains derived, has been

Kiosks are used by most sellers are self-owned and contract system, because
the place where the stalls stand is land owned by the Department of Transportation
PJKA and Depok. Strategies that do want to respond to competition by the seller,
among others with the game price and service improvement. This is due to the similar
products and mutual competitors drop prices.
In promoting its products seller had no difficulty because the location of the
market is strategically located in between the access terminal and Depok Station, so
many people are strolling around the market. However, the constraints now faced by
the traders are having to compete with ITC Depok Modern Shopping Center, which is
clearly superior in the area of the facility.
I. FACTORS AFFECTING THE MARKET OPPORTUNITIES
a. The View of Product
In terms of products, traders / sellers in the market Depok Station Terminal-
selling items of various types (heterogeneous), including food, clothing, and
some tertiary needs.
b. The View Layout
The location of the market, which is between the Terminal and Depok
Station makes a very profitable trading opportunities, where an area along
the access market is important for people who want to use the services of
ground transportation. Thus allowing them to stop even if just to look
around.
c. In terms of business areas
The business sectors most dominant in Depok Station Terminal Market is a

1. The location is within walking distance of Modern ITC Depok
2. The issue of land use that traders will alihgunakan, be equivalent to
Modern Shopping Center ITC Depok.
3. Inadequate facilities and unhygienic circumstances.

III. EFFORTS TO DO MANAGEMENT


1. Improving cleanliness and service
Be a task that is not easy for managers to improve the quality of
cleanliness. Especially with market conditions Depok Station Terminal
fairly broad. However this is a PR that inevitably must be improved, both in
terms of place, neighborhood, or services.
2. Increase the availability of facilities
Relation to the effort that must be made by the manager is to
increase the availability of facilities such as houses of worship facilities, and
toilets or ease - another ease of access to the target market. So that buyers
will be more comfortable and had no trouble when the facility because it
requires the availability of adequate facilities.

Conclusion

location and facilities are inadequate.

Suggestion
