THE PROBLEM

Introduction

Social media has become an integral part of modern society and has drastically changed
the way we communicate and interact with each other. The rise of platfoms such as Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter has created new opportunities for individuals to connect and share
information with a global audience with the increasing popularity of social media, it is
important to understand the current trends and how they are influencing the social behaviours
of students.

One of the most significant trends in social media is the rise of visual platforms like
Instagram and TikTok. These platforms allow users to share photos and videos, creating an
emphasis on visual content and self-expression. This has led to an increase in the use of filters,
editing tools, and other visual enhancements to present a polished image to the world. As a
result, students are becoming more conscious of their appearance and are increasingly using
social media to present a curated version of themselves.

Social media is also influencing the way students interact with their peers. With the
ability to connect with people from all over the world, students are forming new social
networks that are not limited by geography. This has led to an increase in online communities,
where students can share information, support each other, and form new friendships. However,
this trend also has a downside, as students are increasingly spending more time on social
media, which can lead to social isolation, depression, and other mental health issues.

In this research, social media has drastically changed the way we communicate and
interact with each other. The current trends in social media, such as the rise of visual platforms
and influencers, are having a significant impact on the social behavior of students. As such, it is
crucial for educators, parents, and students to understand these trends and their potential
impact on social behavior. By being aware of these trends, we can take steps to mitigate their
negative effects and harness the positive aspects of social media to enhance the social and
emotional well-being of students.

Statement of Problem

This study generally aims to explain the effect of social media and their response to current
trends on social media and its influence to social behaviors of students.

Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions.
