TEKS LA.2.13.G, LA.2.13.C, LA.3.13.B, LA.4.13.B, LA.4.13.H, LA.3.13.H

Students will use different methods of research encouraged by the librarian. Students will be
using a print resource as well as online resources to create a google report to present to the
class. Students knowledge will be evaluated and assessed by their ability to present factual
information about their topic.

The librarian will review and train how to use Destiny search with teachers to ensure that they
are able to apply this to classrooms. The librarian will also train the teachers on using the
Destiny search catalog in the library.

Day 1:
We will read a book about ______. We will discuss main idea and details about ________. What
do we want to know? What is important? What are important details?
As a class we will make a list of animals on the white board. Students will then choose an
animal that they are interested in to research. Using Destiny search through our campus library
program, students will use the catalog to locate their book in the library.

Day 2:
After guiding students through this process, and locating and obtaining books from the library, a
data sheet will be given to each student. Students will be given these data sheets to record
information they find in research. The librarian will encourage students to record factual
information rather than opinions. Students will be allowed time to research facts in their books
and record information. The librarian will facilitate helping where needed, giving feedback, and
guiding students.
Day 3:
Before students are able to use online resources, the librarian will remind and reteach students
of ethical computer use and guide them to the resources provided to gather information.
Through whole group guidance first, we will explore the different website available to use
through our library. Students will then have time to explore the different resources to gather
information. The librarian will remind students again about important facts rather than opinions.
Students will then record their data on their data sheet.

Day 4: Research continues

Day 5:
Teachers will be trained by the librarian on how to use the google slide sheet as well as how to
teach their students. The librarian will check in on classes and be available for teachers to ask
questions throughout the reports.
Students will use a QR code to begin their presentation. Students will use data collected to
create a google slide show that will be assigned in their account. The librarian will first show the
slide show whole group and explain the different features. The librarian will carefully guide
instruction to ensure that students are understanding how to input data in their slides. The
librarian will facilitate the room giving feedback and continuing helping where needed.

Day 6: Continue inputting data. Students will present their slide show presentations to the class.
