Other Policies:

Attendance: As per university rule, a student must not be absent for more than 20% of the total number of
classes for the term (6 for lecture and 6 for discussion classes). If most of his/her absences
are excused, then the student must officially drop the course. Otherwise, he/she will be given a
grade of 5.0. Perfect attendance does not merit extra points in your grade.

Submit a medical certificate and/or an excuse letter for excused absences. Failure to do so will
make your absence unexcused.

Grades of 4.0 and A student who gets a grade of 4.0 may take a removal exam within 3 regular removal periods
INC: or retake the course. A student who gets a grade of INC should complete all requirements
within one academic year after receipt of grade. Retaking the course does not complete the
course. In both cases, students should inform the teacher as soon as possible regarding their
mode of removal or completion.

Dropping: A student is officially dropped from the course if he/she completes filing a dropping slip. A
student who stops attending classes and/or taking exams without officially dropping will be
given a grade of 5.0. Note that the teacher has the right NOT to give consent in dropping the
course.

Missed Examinations: A student who misses a long exam should immediately inform his/her instructor. Depending on
the merits of the situation, the marks on final exam will be used for that particular exam. If the
student misses another long exam, he/she will automatically be given a zero mark in that
exam.

There shall be no make-up quiz for both excused and unexcused absences.

In the event that the student misses the final exam, a grade of INC will be given provided that
the pre-final class standing is passing (at least 60%). Otherwise, the student will get a grade of
5.0.

Cheating: Cheating during examinations/assignments will not be tolerated. Any form of cheating shall be
subject to disciplinary actions. Moreover, the student will automatically be given a grade of 5.0.

Proper Decorum: It is expected that full attention to the teacher be given during class. Mobile phones should be
turned off or kept in silent mode. Any activity, such as note passing, giggling, or private
conversations that will distract the lecturer/teacher should be avoided.
