for the semester
Grading system detail you also
need to know…

50% Midterm + 50% Finals = Computed Final Grade

is applicable when your final exam only covers lessons from the midterm period

33% Midterm + 67% Finals = Computed Final Grade

is applicable when your final exam covers lessons from the very beginning of the semester
Your MIDTERM or FINAL grades that come in percentages will then
have their NUMERICAL VALUES. The numerical values are what we
encode in the Student Information System (SIS)
How high my grades should be so I could be

What are these other non-numerical
marks in the SIS?
MARK WHAT IT STANDS FOR WHAT IT MEANS
This means that there have been major requirements and major exams you
*P - missed to submit/complete, or the quality of your major requirements did not
meet the standards expected.
This means that the student have not been active in class since first day, and
D/F Dropped with failure has exceeded the number of absences. This will be determined by the instructor
by midterm grading. This is not equivalent to the failing mark of 5.0

OD Officially dropped
Given by the registrar when the student has dropped the course (only
applicable in college)

W Withdrawn
Given by the registrar to indicate that the student has withdrawn from the
University
This means that there have been major requirements and major exams you
*INC Incomplete missed to submit/complete. This is only applicable for face-to-face/old normal
scenario. This mark is given by the instructor during finals.

* Your attempt in submitting your requirements/taking the exam to comply for your P and INC mark
does not mean that you pass automatically. Your grade will still depend on the quality of your
outputs/performances. After 1 year, if the P or INC is not completed by the student, the mark will
automatically turn into a 5.0.

N/ETIQUETTE
 When you communicate with your classmates and instructors, greet them
first.

 Please ask permission if they could lend you time. State your concerns or
intentions.

 Address your instructors/professors properly. Use Maam or Sir when

addressing them. They are not at the same level as you are, they are
experts of their fields.

 Do not text, chat or call your instructors beyond the contact hours they
intended for you. Your instructors/professors will provide you consultation
time. If possible, you may ask them their consultation period if they
somehow forget to share with you.
N/ETIQUETTE
 Do not share screenshots of your online sessions without the permission of
your instructors and classmates. This is to avoid violating the data privacy
policy.

 Do not share private information of your classmates and teachers online

especially contact details.

 Do not share screenshots of documents your instructor and classmates

shared with you that are deemed private, personal or only intended for the
class.

 When in an online session with your instructor and classmates, keep your
microphone muted to avoid ambient noises during discussions.
N/ETIQUETTE
 Be on time during synchronous sessions

 If your data allows it, turn on your camera during live sessions so your
instructors/professors and classmates feel that you are present

 Concerns about grades or other class-related matters must be

addressed to the instructor/professor concerned. Ranting in social media
will not resolve the problem.

 Be polite and respectful at all times.

YOUR ROLE AS A SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
 You are responsible of your grades, which means that you should be
accountable of keeping track and completing of requirements,
performance tasks and exams on all your subjects.

 You will be treated as adults who are transitioning to college, so you will
not be spoon fed. It is your decision and responsibility to keep yourself
updated of any policies, announcements, schedules, activities, tasks,
submissions, deadlines, etc. Nobody will cater to your concerns for you if
you don’t act on it, or if you do not approach the right people.

 You will be treated as scholars. You are expected to come to class

prepared. Mediocrity should not be part of your system.

 You are expected to follow proper communication protocols.

YOUR ROLE AS A SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
 You are expected to respect and abide the policies of the University.

 As adults, you will need to reach out to your instructors professionally

should you have concerns.

 Your parents’ involvement to your academic performance is essential, and

it is important that they know the policies. Harassing instructors and
professors to pass you, despite compelling academic records and
evidence of fair and exhaustive facilitation of academic concerns, is not
welcomed in USTP.

 Represent yourself as a responsible individual accountable of all your

academic decisions and actions.
