Educational technology is increasingly developing throughout time. In the field of

education, education technology is playing a vital role. Educational technology, in my opinion, is

a phenomenal way to shape the modern world by having conversations surrounding technology

integration.

Since the 20th century, some major educational theories, such as behaviorism and

cognitivism have been implemented in education, which has been greatly linked to the

development of educational technology (Ouyang & Stanley, 2014). Ivan Pavlov, Edward

Thorndike, and Frederic Skinner helped further develop behavioral theories. Researchers and

scholars confirmed that behaviorism has greatly promoted and effectively implemented in

programmatic instruction and has strongly promoted and widely applied in computing-assisted-

instruction and the development of educational technology (Ouyang & Stanley, 2014). Jean

Piaget Jerome Seymour Bruner and David Ausubel used cognitive developmental theory to

develop students' capabilities of creative thinking, information analyzing, and problem-solving

through computer-assisted instruction (Ouyang & Stanley, 2014). Educational technology has

been an effective tool to help students gain further knowledge and promote creative thinking.

Blackboard was developed in 1997 and has been widely utilized in web instruction in

elementary and middle/high schools, as well as in the colleges and universities (Ouyang &

Stanley, 2014). I believe that Blackboard is a great tool used to post assignments, grades,

lectures, and have conversations with other peers. Educational tools such as Blackboard make

teaching and learning more efficient and easier to utilize in classroom settings.

Overall, educational technology is an effective way to showcase one’s work. Aside from

Blackboard, other platforms such as Weebly, Kahoot, Wix, etc., are great educational tools for

students to utilize in the field of education. Educational platforms are beneficial for the teacher

and the learner and are easy to integrate into the curriculum.
