Module 2 – Values Education

To verify the students’ values as pertain to the entire dimension discussed above, the
following questions are posed to be answered individually.

 How do you define values?

Values are a personal choice that we make about what is important to us. They are the things
we choose to live by and stand for. They can be things that we have learned from our family, friends,
and society. Values help us decide what is right and what is wrong. They tell us what is important in our
lives and what is not. Values are important to every individual and can have a large impact on their lives.
They are what we choose to put the most importance on in our lives and how we decide to behave.
They are how we see the world and how we live our lives. Values guide us in what we want to believe
and do in life. They are also important because they help us determine what we are passionate about
and what matters most to us.

 Write at least 10 values that you possess and rank them according to what you think is
important to you.
1. Faith in God
2. Love
3. Respect
4. Kindness
5. Wisdom
6. Integrity
7. Discipline
8. Perseverance
9. Courage
10. Responsibility

 Do you believe in the saying that “kung ano ang puno ay siyang bunga?” Explain.
Kung ano ang puno ay siya ang bunga this is a common saying that we compared with parents
and their children. I somehow do believe in this saying because for me whatever a child becomes it is
because of those who raised them. A child does whatever he/she sees, whatever told so. Parents
instilled values to their child according to their actions. What manners, customs, culture and ideology
parents practice, expect their children to learn and behave as well. But as we see, the parent and child
are two different humans. As a child grows they think differently, learn differently, act differently, and
even live in different generations that may have values that differ and beliefs that treat the other as
obsolete.
Although the early years of shaping a child's personality depend largely on his or her parents,
over time they develop their own ability to make decisions for themselves. At this time, it is difficult to
say that kung ano ang puno ay siya ang bunga because the only thing a tree can give to the fruit is the
foundation. It is up to them to enrich and implement the foundation that was started. So, I believe that
everyone have a different story, and you will make your own destiny. Whatever it brings forth from your
actions, is solely up to you.
