• Read and study the Trompenaars Cultural Dimensions in answering this part of the activity.
• In the seven dimensions of culture, make a situation or scenario in the hospitality and
tourism set up that is base in each of the dimensions mentioned.
• After each of the situation make a brief statement what makes them different.

Particularism
There is a 2 applicant that is vying for the position of guest service agent in the Demetrio Hotel. Applicant A is a fresh graduate, and the first
cousin of the Human Resource manager and Applicant B is a well experience in the position they are applying. Applicant A got the job.
Universalism
You are the only staff working in the restaurant and suddenly, your ex-best friend an ex-boyfriend came to dine. You welcome them
according to the standard of the restaurant presented them the menu and take the orders and serve what exactly they ordered. You
executed the best professionalism you can be even dealing with people who you have personal issues.

Universalist cultures are known to keep their promises in properly executing professionalism and consistent in their job. while particularism
culture sees and find relationships more important than rules.

B.
THE HOFSTEDE MODEL OF CULTURAL DIFFERENCES is One of the most widely used frameworks
for analyzing cultural differences that was developed by the eminent cultural theorist, Geert
Hofstede. In this model, the differences in culture between countries have been plotted along five
dimensions, which can be used as the basis for predicting the cultural differences between
different countries. The model was developed after extensive research into the cultural
differences between different countries.

• For your task, construct a summary of each of the 5 dimension the shortest sentence or
paragraph you can make as long as you can express its meaning and you can able to
explain each of the dimension.

• Discuss in ilocano dialect the importance of foreign worker in workplace diversity
specifically in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
• List down at least 10 each of the positive and negative impact of foreign worker.

Answer the following question.
• Who are the most affected in racism issue in the workplace?
• What is the most common racism issue that is ongoing in the United States?
• Why was apartheid implemented in South Africa?
• Racial discrimination is still common in Hospitality and Tourism industry? Why?
