Q 1. What was the political approach of Muslim leadership in the light of aims and
objectives of All India Muslim League? Justify your answer with five valid points.
Ans. Political approach of Muslim leaders was:
1. To have a separate platform to safeguard Muslim’s political interests. Congress
left its stance of neutrality over partition of Bengal and opposed it as Muslims
received benefit in East Bengal.
2. As Liberal Party came into power in Britain in 1905, it offered political reforms
for India. Muslim leaders thought it suitable to form a political party to express
Muslim demands to the British government.
3. Muslim leaders wanted to make a suitable setup that would work to create
harmony among Muslims and British government and remove any
misunderstandings regarding any policy or action of the government.
4. Muslim leaders wanted to have a legal platform where Muslims can freely
discuss their collective interests and demands.
5. Muslim league was formed to create a harmonious environment among
Muslims and other communities of the subcontinent.

Q 2. How did Nehru Report trigger a wave of confrontation between Hindus and Muslims?
Justify your answer with any five relevant points.
Ans. Five important points of Nehru Report that triggered confrontation between Hindus and
Muslims are as under:
1. Muslim’s demand of separate electorate was neglected in the Nehru Report.
2. Nehru Report proposed federal form of government which only benefited
Hindus as they would centrally control the government being in majority
whereas Muslims demanded that residual powers remain with provinces.
3. Hindi was proposed as national language of India whereas Urdu was neglected
as official language.
4. Proposals of Nehru Report were aimed at making Hindus complete in-charge of
government decisions and would lead them to rule India.
5. Nehru report aimed at making Muslims a weak minority of India.
