It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Miss Kathryn Lowe, whom I have had the privilege of
teaching at Kempsville High School in the Virginia Beach City Public School system. Her performance as a
student leader has been praiseworthy, and I’m delighted to be able to recommend her for consideration into the
Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VFTF) program.

I instructed Kathryn in both World History and Geography II, as well as Virginia and US History during the
2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic school years. These were both year-long state tested courses. Kathryn is a
quick learner who is always eager to master new things. I have found her to be a diligent individual who is detail-
oriented and willing to go the extra mile to accomplish things the right way. This has equated to top marks in all
grading periods for my course. It was not uncommon for me to assign differentiated materials for Kathryn to
challenge her beyond the rigors of the standard curriculum. This would include deeper learning in areas of
interest. Her greatest strengths are her thoroughness and adaptability; she not only accepts constructive criticism
relating to her work whole-heartedly but is also receptive in adapting her work to cater to the demands and
thematics of the classroom. Kathryn retains the ability to work well in any group she has been assigned and has
taken the lead on more than one occasion to complete a group task. Her structured yet empathetic nature always
complimented her groups by adding an extra depth of understanding through leadership and accountability. Her
personality invokes positivity among those that surround her.

Miss Lowe’s outstanding abilities in the classroom will be a real asset to your institution. Not only has she been
able to balance the challenges and rigors of an academic school year, but Kathryn has also shown her maturity and
personal constitution by participating in extracurricular activities. Once again, I strongly endorse her as a potential
candidate where she can develop and apply her talents productively. Please contact me if you have further
questions.

I recommend her to you without reservation.

Sincerely,

Brian J. Leininger
