1. Explain the principle of operation of impulse steam turbine. Show the schematic
arrangement and force diagram. [2]
2. What is meant by compounding. Why is it necessary? Is it really needed for
reaction turbines? Elaborate your answers. [2]
3. Explain any four important differences between velocity and pressure
compounding.[2]
4. If the refrigerator door is opened in a room and assuming that the room is leak
proof for air movement, can the refrigerator be used as air conditioner? Justify
your answers. [2]
5. Explain the operation of vapor compression refrigeration system with neat sketch.
