Reflection Essay 1

In 1302, I learned how to research peer reviewed articles, which I used in my first essay

in 1302. In 1301 and Anatomy & Physiology lab class, I learned that citing my work is

important, which I used in my first essay in 1302. For example, “According to, Kadian, et al., “...

statement is mentioned in order to support that phones affect sleep (131),” this is a part of

making sure to cite my sources (Juarez, The Benefits of Waking Up Early, 2). Since I provided

the author's name in the beginning, all that needs to be included would be the number page.

What I learned in 1301 that was not used for this first essay of 1302 was the genre

analysis. Normally in 1301 we would mostly do genre analysis essays, but this time we are doing

rhetorical essays with research. Other than that everything used in 1301 is still used in 1302.

I learned how to look for peer reviewed research papers and this can be applied to my

other courses. It can be applied by researching and backing up my statement in any essay or

argument I have to do. In my Anatomy and Physiology lab course a final research paper is

needed, so this research analysis essay is going to help in building my research paper for my

final. Citing the work I use properly is another strategy that I can use in other courses. For

example, in every class an argument about a certain topic is being asked, so I have to properly

cite where I am getting the information from.

What I learned in this essay that would not be applicable to other courses would be

nothing at all. Everything learned throughout the writing process is always used in most essays

that need to be written. If anything it makes me better at writing at other courses.

My writing strengths would be to gather information on the topic I chose. My writing

weakness would be explaining the point thoroughly. I feel as though my point can be explained

more thoroughly. More evidence can be provided in every paragraph and included more on the

peer reviewed article.

The most challenging aspect of the essay was finding the right peer reviewed articles.

The articles that were chosen had to contain certain things that fit the essay and also that I would

like to include. There were a few articles about the keywords I was searching for, so I was very

limited at the start. After thinking of more keywords that were related to the topic I was

searching a little more articles that were to my liking came up. The least challenging aspect was

on how to access Academic Search Complete and look up the articles, MLA formatting layout,

and following the essay word count.
