Ark Nova 3 Solo Campaigns

The Set Up Rules below, apply for ALL Campaigns and the Challenge in this
file.
You can also use them in your Normal Solo Games if you like
(but because they make the Game easier, you may want to increase the difficulty a bit)
( I just wanted to give the Solo Plays, some more Room to achieve more things in a Game)

Set Up Rules
The Gameplay is the same as in the Normal Solo Mode, except those Extra
Setup Rules:

You will start each Game with:


1. 25 Money.
2. 1 Point on Conservation Track.
3. Choose 1 of the 3 Options to Start the Game with (for free):
A.) 1 standard 3-space Enclosure.
B.) 1 standard 2-space Enclosure and 2 extra money.
C.) 1 standard 1-space Enclosure and 4 extra money.
( You can make that choice, after you choose your starting Cards, the
Enclosure must be adjacent to the border of the Zoo)
4. Plus, you will have 1 extra Turn (that will be the 28th Turn) at the End of the Game, but
don’t make a Brake before taking that extra Final Turn.
(You can mark this by putting the Brake Token on the bottom right of the Solo Tile, as a
reminder, if you want)
5. Your Starting Appeal will be determined based on the Campaigns and Challenges below,
or your choice if you Play a sigle Solo Game.

Campaign no1:
GOAL: Finish the 6 Chapters of the Campaign, without ever your Campaign’s
Total Score falls below 0(zero). (See Table on Page 3 and an example Table on
Page 2)
Example: Playing in HARD difficulty, you start Chapter 1 with 21 Appeal. Your
Final Score is +15 points. Then you move to Chapter 2 (starting with 19 Appeal) and
you end your Game with -5 points, but your Total Score remains Positive (+10) so
you can continue to Chapter 3.
If at the End of a Game your Campaign’s Total Score falls below Zero, then
you lose the Campaign.
• You can Retry a Chapter only once in the entire Campaign. So choose
wisely when to do, because once you spend it, you will no longer be able to
Retry any Chapter again for the Entire Campaign, to improve your Score.
• At the Start of each Chapter you will choose a Map Randomly(Maps 1-8).
You can’t play in the same map twice during the Campaign.
• The Base Conservation and End Game Scoring Cards you use in the first 3
Games, will be returned to the box until the start of Game 4.
(There are 12 Projection Cards and 10 End Game Scoring Cards which are
enough for your first 3 Games.)
• Also, every Bonus Tile you use during the first 3 Games, won’t be available
to you until Game 4. (Not all 4 Bonus Tiles you set up on the board, only the 2
you use in every Game, so in Game-1 there will be 9 available Bonus Tiles, in
Game-2 7 and in Game-3 5.

Optional: (this step is optional, for balance reasons, if you don’t want to do this, just
play 3 consecutive Games with all the Cards in one Deck)
• Before the start of Games 1 & 4 separate all the Zoo Cards into Animal,
Sponsons and Conservation Cards. There are 128 Animal, 64 Sponsor and
20 Conservation Project Cards.
• After that, create 3 decks of Cards (1 for each of your first 3 games):

• In every Game you will use 1 of those decks and after that you will return it
to the box. If at any time during a Game your deck runs empty, shuffle the
discard Pile and create a new Deck.

INFINITE TRIES VARIANT: you can play every Chapter as many times as you want
until you are happy with your score. Especially Recommended for Insane and
Nightmare and Hell Difficulty.

Playoff Challenge ( +Campaign)
The Goal of the Challenge is to achieve 3
WINS in 5 Games, each on a different Map.
1. Again, you will start each Game with the SET UP rules as described in
Page 1 (Conservation Track at 1vp, the Enclosure and extra money,
the Bonus Turn etc)
2. Your Starting Appeal will be the same for every Game and is based on
the Difficulty Level (see the Table below).

• If you choose to not use both Bonuses then you will mark your WIN with
2 + sumbols. So for example a win in Insane Level without bonuses will
be marked as an “Insane++ WIN”
• If you choose to not use Bonus B' then your WIN will be marked with one
+ symbol.

Playoffs style Campaign Variant:


• You have to WIN 3 different Levels (in increasing difficulty) in a ROW.
• Choose the Difficulty Level for the 1st Round. Then, if you manage to
WIN 3 Games, move to the Next Level(Semifinals) and if you manage to
WIN again, move to the Finals. If you WIN the Finals you are the Champ.
• You mark your WIN with the Final level of the Campaign. So, if you
choose to play in Easy, Normal and Hard Levels, you WON in Hard
Difficulty.

Campaign no2: How far can you Get?
Your Goal is to WIN as many Games as you can before you
eventually Loose or WIN the FINAL Game Where you Start
with 0 Appeal.
• You Start your First Game with 21 Appeal and the SET UP rules
That means: 25 money, 1 Point on Conservation Track, 1 of 3
Enclosure Options & the Extra Final Turn
• But from Game 2 and beyond you will start with X extra money,
where X is your Previous Game Final Score.
• After Every Game you will reduce your Starting Appeal by 1.
Example: 1st Game Starting Appeal is 21, in 2nd would be 20, in 3rd
19 etc.
• Before the Start of every Game you can exchange 5 money for
1 X-Token (you can do this only once in every game).
Your Final Score will be the Starting Appeal of your Last Game and
the score of your Last Game.
Example: 15(-13).
Note: You may found your first Games to be too easy, but you
need those big margin WINS, as you reducing your Starting Appeal.
Optional: if you want to skip the first Game, you can start from
Game 2 (20 Starting Appeal and 20 extra money) or Game 3 (19
Starting Appeal and 15 extra money).

INFINITE TRIES VARIANT: You can Play as many times you


like, until you are pleased with your score, before proceed to the
next Level (reducing Starting Appeal by 1)
