SUMMARY OF THE ARTICLE

Muhammad Bin Salman commonly referred by his initials MBS, is the current Crown Prince
of Saudi Arabia. He has been the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia since 2017 and is widely
considered to be one of the most powerful figures in the Middle East. MBS has been known for
his ambitious economic and social reform agenda, including the diversification of Saudi
Arabia’s Economy and the liberalization of society through the announcement of a
Developmental Program called as Vision 2030 on 25th April 2016. He was praised by his
supporters for his measures, but he has also faced huge criticism for his handling of certain
issues, including the war in Yemen, the arrest of political opponents and human rights
activists and the murder of Journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

WHAT IS VISION 2030?

MBS has been the driving force behind Vision 2030, and has played a key role in implementing
his vision and policies. The main goal of Vision 2030 is to reduce the Oil Dependency of
people of Saudi Arabia and build a vibrant and sustainable economy that can compete globally.
However, Vision 2030 represents a major shift for Saudi Arabia, and its success will depend on a
range of factors including global economic conditions, geopolitical developments and the
ability of the government and the private sector to implement the necessary reforms.

Three Main Pillars

Vision 2030 focuses on three main pillars:-

1. A vibrant society: a healthy lifestyle, and an active thriving community.

2. A thriving economy: building a diversified, sustainable economy that creates wealth and
attracts investment.

3. An ambitious nation: enhancing the quality of life, raising living standards and empowering
Saudi citizens.

Saudi Vision 2030 Objectives

 Developing new industries and creating jobs.
 Boosting private sector participation and investment.
 Improving the education system and promoting innovation.
 Enhancing public services and infrastructure.
 Promoting cultural and social changes and empowering women.

CONCLUSION:
The world recognizes Saudi Arabia as the largest exporter of petroleum in the world
but soon Saudi Arabia will be known more than being only an oil exporter. The Saudi
Government has launched several initiatives to achieve their aim, including the establishment
of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to invest in local and International projects, the
introduction of new e-visa system to encourage tourism and investment. The construction of
the biggest linear smart city ; The Line is also a part of Saudi Vision 2030 project , which is
designed to have no cars , streets or carbon emission and is under construction in Saudi
Arabia in Neom , Tabuk Province , which promises to create around 460,000 jobs and add an
estimated $48 billion to the country’s GDP.

Saudi Arabia is the land of Two Holy Masjids Makkah and Madinah. Therefore, before making
any new constitution in the country, it is important to see it does not violate the principles of
Islam. But , now we are seeing that MBS has relaxed many of the strict laws such as allowing
mixed gender concerts and public cinemas , uplifting the mandatory veil for women ,
women can now drive , travel abroad without male guardianship , can attend sports events ,
and work in several public sectors. This is allegedly the downside of the Saudi Revolt as an
Islamic state. By 2030, Saudi Arabia will be a stronger and stable country than ever before. It
will be a global hub of trade and technology and gateway to the world.
