Title:
Air pollution and its side effects

Introduction:
AIR POLLUTION:

Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical
or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.

A substance in the air that can be adverse to humans and environment is known as an air
pollutant. Pollutants can be in the form of solid particles, liquid droplets, or gases. In addition,
they may be natural or man-made.

SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION:

Household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires
are common sources of air pollution.

CONTRIBUTION OF EACH SECTOR TO FINE PARTICLE POLLUTION

 Residential
 Transport
 International shipping
 Industry
 Commercial
 Anthropogenic fugitive, combustion and industrial dust
 Other combustion
 Remaining sources
 Landscape fires
 Agriculture
 Agriculture
 Waste
 Solvents
 Energy
 Windblown dust

EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution affects all things. It is harmful, and it impacts the environment by reducing
visibility and blocking sunlight, causing acid rain, and harmful forests, wildlife, and agriculture.
Greenhouse gas pollution, the cause of climate change, affects the entire planet. The effects of air
pollution on the human body vary depending on the type of pollutant and the length and level of
exposure.

 wheezing/difficulty breathing
 Irritation to eyes, nose and throat
 Headache
 Dizziness
 Fatigue
 Respiratory diseases ( asthma, emphysema)
 Coughing
 Cancer
 Nervous system damage
 Death
CONCLUSION:
Air Pollution is considered a problem because it not only affects the environment but
also damages crops, forests, animals, and the human body. Being aware and changing our
habits is the only way to minimize the air pollution and to live a healthier life. Limiting the use
of vehicles, by switching to electric or hand-powered lawn equipment, turning off an idle engine,
by reforestation and by not burning the domestic and industrial waste we can save our
environment.
