AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical
or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere. Household
combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires are common sources of
air pollution. Air quality is closely linked to the earth’s climate and ecosystems globally.
Most of the air pollution takes place due to the incomplete burning of fossils fuels, between
them coal, oil, and gasoline to produce energy for electricity or transportation, also the
Industrial activities emit several pollutants in the air that affect the air quality, industries use
coal and wood as the primary energy source for the production of their goods.
An effect is that It increases the risk of respiratory infection, heart disease and lung cancer and
the burning of fossil fuels releases harmful gases such as Nitrogen oxides and Sulphur oxides in
the air. The water droplets combine with these pollutants, become acidic and fall as acid rain
which damages human, animals and plant life.
AIR POLLUTION CONTROL

 People should avoid using vehicles for shorter distances. Rather, they should prefer
public modes of transport to travel from one place to another.
 Remember to switch off the electrical appliances when we are not using them.
 The use of clean energy as solar, wind and geothermal energies reduce air pollution at a
larger level.
