What I can Do

It is evident that STEM students face more pressure than other students due to the demanding nature
of their field, the high expectations placed on them, and the competitive job market. It is important for
institutions to provide support and resources to help alleviate the stress and pressure experienced by these
students.

STEM students face immense pressure compared to students in other academic fields. The pressure
can be attributed to several factors, including the challenging nature of the subjects, the high expectations
of the field, the competitive job market, and biases within the STEM community.

STEM subjects are known for their challenging nature. They require a high level of logical
reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. These subjects demand a lot of time and effort from
students, and the pressure to perform well can be overwhelming. STEM students have to spend countless
hours studying, solving complex problems, conducting experiments, and completing projects, all of which
can lead to fatigue and burnout. In addition to the challenging nature of STEM subjects, the expectations
and demands of the field are high. Employers seek individuals who have a deep understanding of scientific
principles and possess strong analytical skills. In the job market, STEM students are expected to be at the
forefront of innovation and technological advancements. Consequently, there is a lot of pressure on STEM
students to maintain high academic standards and produce quality work that meets the industry's demands.

The competition in the STEM field is intense. The demand for STEM professionals is high, and
this has led to a highly competitive job market. STEM students are often competing with one another for
internships, scholarships, and job opportunities. This competition can lead to feelings of inadequacy and
insecurity, leading to increased pressure to perform well and stand out from the crowd.

In conclusion, STEM students face immense pressure due to the challenging nature of their
subjects, the high expectations of the field, the competitive job market, and biases within the STEM
community. It is crucial for institutions to provide support and resources to help alleviate the stress and
pressure experienced by these students. By doing so, we can create a more inclusive and supportive
environment for STEM students to thrive in.
