2. SHORT INTRODUCTION ABOUT THIS SESSION
The first session of practicum was concerned with site identification and making entrance to Sire
Secondary school. At the gate of the school, there was a guard in which he asked me where to
and informed him where and why I came there. After getting permission from him, I went to
school director office and joined him there by introducing myself there by telling him my
objective of coming there and gave him my letter for practicum.
After dealing everything with him, he cordially accepted me and promised to cooperate with me
from the start to the completion date of practicum. With that, I started visiting the physical and
social environment of the school in this first session. Then, I introduced myself with the school
community (teachers) and I told them as I came there for practicum training on the title
“Mitigating the effect of social media on academic achievement of students” by taking their
school there by finding possible solutions to the problems mentioned above.
3. OBJECTIVES OF THE SESSION

The general objective of the session was to observe physical & social environment of the school.
4. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (write the specific objectives in clear and short ways)
To contact the school principal and give the letter for practicum
To introduce myself with the school principal and other staff.
To observe physical and social environment of the school
5. MAJOR ACTIVITIES DONE IN THIS SESSION
Visiting the physical and social school environment
Introduction of myself with the school communities including teachers
Discussing with the school principals on the procedures of starting the practicum
6 .MAJOR STRENGTHS OBSERVED (write some of the strengths you observed during this session)
The school principal honestly accepted me and showed interest to help me on my title
“Mitigating the effect of social media on students ‘academic achievement”.
The teachers in Sire secondary school cooperated with me on how to deal with them and students
The vice principal also made his cooperation with teachers to give attention about the issues
7. MAJOR CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED (write the main problem you faced during this session)
By the time I went to school, I didn’t get the principal on time for he was occupied with meeting.
8. ATTEMPTS MADE TO SOLVE THE CHALLENGES (write the action taken to solve problems)
Every challenge needs tolerance. So I waited with patience until he finished meeting and got it.
9. NEW EXPERIENCE GAINED (in short write the new experience you gained from this session)
The experience I gained from this session was that everything needs tolerance and integrity.
Thus, I got a number of teachers and students in which I made hot discussion with them orally.
10. SUMMARY POINTS (write short summary of the session contains the major points)
By the first session I visited the school environment and introduced myself with school
community. In the first session, the main objective of the session was to familiarize myself with
school environment. There were some challenges that encountered me and I tried to solve such
problems as much as possible to make the condition suitable for the next session.
11. PLAN FOR THE NEXT SESSION (this is what will be the objectives for your next session)
I made appointments with vice principal and contacted some department heads (teachers) in the
school and discussed how to get teachers and students to carry out our practicum as planned.

1. Each session shall be checked and commented by the faculty supervision before you proceed
to the next session.
2. You are expected to spend 16 days, three hours per week and produce a minimum of 16
sessions.
3. All the 16 sessions shall be attached to your main portfolio/report at the end.
