ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION
According to the Western Sydney University (2020) Digital literally means having the skills you need
to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasingly
through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media and mobile device . Developing your
critical thinking skills is essential when you're confronted with so information in different formats
searching, sitting, evaluating, applying and producing information all require think critically
communication is also a key aspect of digital literacy. when communicating in virtual environments , the
ability to clearly express your ideas, ask relevant questions, maintain respect , and build trust us just as
important as when communicating in person.

This research departs from the problem of the low literacy of students so that it affects the process and
student learning outcomes. Observation showed that some students still lacked mastery of using digital
technology safely and productively Digital literally must be understood as basic skills to use computers
confidently, safety and effectively, including the ability to use on software such as word processing ,
presentations, email the ability to create and edit image, audio, video and the ability to use search engines
(Alagu & Thanuskodi, 2019)

In addition , digital literacy is also helpful for reducing students when participating in bold learning, such
as committing fraud during exams, accessing prohibited websites, playing games, and participating in
learning (Purnama, Ulfah, Machali, Wibowo,Narmaditya, 2021).
METHOD

This research used a quantitative approach, which is survey research. the survey method is a technique of
collecting information that is carried out by compiling a list of statements submitted to respondents to
describe attitudes, opinions, behavior or special characteristics (Creswell, 2015: Lestari& Yudhanegara,
2019),the students observed the behavior of respondents so that their digital literacy skills could be found.
the study population was students of Tañong National High School. Researchers used a web-based survey
via google form. Furthermore, the data were analyzed to determine the digital literacy abilities of students
in Tañong National High School.

We used Quantitative Approach, this is because Quantitative research focuses more on numeric and
logical results. Quantitative studies report and understand numerical data to make further and quantitative
research seeks to understand the casual or correlational relationship between variables through testing
hypothesis.
