ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION
According to Perpetua O. Ezeji and Kelechi E. Ezeji (2018), they defined social
media as ‘a collection of internet websites, services and practices that support
collaboration, community building, participation and sharing’. It has attracted the
interest of different people including educators who desire to engage their students,
scholars, and other academically engaged individuals. It also includes information
about their research projects on other different websites.

The level of access of students to the internet has impr[ii[oved tremendously.

But the majority of the students use the social media for activities and tasks that are
not related to academics. Moreover, the study suggests that students would need to
be encouraged to use social media for research and academic purposes as proposed
by Badmus, T. A., and Joda (2019). Social media has no borders or boundaries, we
are all expected to know that there are positive and negative impacts of it to every
student. Social media becomes a necessary part of the lives of most students. We
noticed that it affects their academic performance, good and bad.

In the same way, the students become victims of social network more often than
anyone else. This is because of the reason that when they are studying or searching
their course material online, they get attracted to these sites to kill the boredom in
their study time, diverting their attention from their work as stated by Bacarisas,
Dinero, Baldespinosa and Andador. This is one of the corresponding dark sides of
social media to students that need research attention along sides of the bright sides
of its impact to students.

METHOD
This study deployed quantitative research methods, which allowed the
researcher to use a questionnaire as the data collection instrument. And this is
according to Chukwuere, J, E. (2021). The participants of the study were the Grade
10 students of Tañong National High School, School Year 2022-2023. By using a
quantitative type, we will gather a specific quantity of students who changed their
study habits during and after the pandemic. And what are those changes that
happened. And the data collection was done by using google forms and using
