Task 2

MACDDS/MAED ELM

1. The learning in class today was really relatable and significant in my current situation. As an
educator that had been introduced early in the traditional classroom setting where the teacher
was always the one talking and where the students are only expected to listen, I do agree that
somehow this approached had been outdated and probably not the most effective specially
when the new millennium kicked in. The problem with this approach is that it does not
encourage participation and so students were kind of not be able to express themselves freely
and not too free to be able to participate without much consequences. In my current situation,
probably the most relatable and somehow useful is the fact that we need not to spoon-feed our
students and that, were only offer them assistance in their activities but our assistance should
only be limited to the point that we are only helping them but not fixing/doing the whole things
for them. This encourages them to think and not to lean on the teacher all the time which may
extend to out homes.

2. The lesson today encouraged me to change my approach in teaching students. That I should
encourage participation instead of the teaching by doing all the talking and educating. It also
made me rethink about classroom activities and probably apply anything that would help
students, specially those that had been lagging behind reasonably, to participate. As it had been
emphasized, educator should take less but do more and this probably can be used as a vision or
mission goal in every educator. The goal should always be to encourage students to think and be
able to accomplish tasks with critical thinking. As it had also been discussed, I think I would also
apply the ideology in teaching where instead of doing multiple choices or any other activities that
students can just google the answer, teachers should provide another alternative to conduct
examinations and activities and it should be in a away that encourages or demands students to
participate in their work.
