* It's a happy coincidence that the recital is on a date that is very special to me. June 12th, known as
'Loving Day,' is the anniversary of the 1967 U.S. Supreme Court decision that struck down state laws
criminalizing interracial marriage. The case was brought by Mildred and Richard Loving, a married
couple who were arrested and barred from living together as husband and wife in their home state of
Virginia. My performance today is dedicated to my husband Greg, the Lovings and anyone who is
ghting for the right to love the person they choose.

* On March 1, the villa in Trostyanets, Ukraine in which Tchaikovsky composed his rst symphonic
work was destroyed in the Russian invasion. True Russia, an initiative in support of Ukraine by
Russian-speaking people around the world, is raising funds for Ukrainian refugees.
