SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY

1. IDENTIFY SEVERAL ISSUES IN THE PHILIPPINES AND TECHNOLOGY

RELATED POLICIES COULD BE IN DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED TO
SOLVE THESE ISSUES?

a. Infrastructure: Philippines need to have a major improvements in the field of

infrastructure, particularly in addressing the issue of transportations, such as
trains, high way developments and skyways also in the field of energy and
telecommunications. Science and Technology could be able to help in
development and innovations, these could help address the issues such as,
making a smart highways, renewable energy sources, and high-speed internet
connection.

b. Education System: Philippines faces many challenges in terms of improving

the educational system, wherein it helps to be able to catch up in neighbor South
Asian countries, we face the problem in education sector such as: overcrowded
classrooms, outdated way of teaching methods, lack of clean comfort rooms,
lack of access in educational resources such as: laboratory equipment, computer
laboratory without actual computers. Science and technology policies could
help on focusing in providing students access to digital learning resources,
developing teaching methods that could incorporate in technology, increasing
the number of STEM graduates.

c. Corruption: This is a significant problem in any group of society particularly

in the governments and business. Science and technology could focus in
developing a transparent and accountable government system, by using block

2. WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOME SCINCE

AND PROJECT IN THE COUNTRY?

a. SSES Project in the Philippines: SSES program became a limited access to

the students particularly for some students who had a disadvantage background,
and that it may continue an inequality in access to a better quality of education.
In which, the privilege people who had access to a better quality education may
led to a not enough of distribution or growth to the society. Moreover, the
program may be too focused on science and technology, and neglect the essence
of other important fields of studies. In conclusion, while the SSES program has
virtues in offering quality scientific education to young kids in the Philippines,
it must be inclusive and accessible to all students, regardless of socioeconomic
status, and it must also acknowledge the relevance of other disciplines of study.

b. Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS): Despite in all good

qualities of PhilSci Highschool there will be a disadvantages in person like me
and other students who can relate to me, along with its very good standard of
teaching and learning. Nevertheless, some opponents have suggested that the
PSHSS may not be available to all kids, particularly those from low-income
families who may lack access to the resources and preparation required to pass
the tough admission exams. Furthermore, some contend that the PSHSS's
emphasis on STEM may be at the expense of other essential disciplines of
study, such as social sciences and humanities.
