Why we forget? Forget is we have lost the remembrance of our memory.

Well-known memory
researcher Elizabeth Loftus has proposed four theories for why forgetting occurs. The first theory is
the Interference theory. In this theory, the reasons why forgetting of memory is happen because the
new information have interference with the old memories and the old memory make us difficult to
form a new memory. The next theory is the decay theory. According to this theory, the length of
time between the memory and the recalling of new information will determine whether the
information will be retained or forgotten by our brain. Therefore, it can be said that forgetting of
memory happens because we have lacked recalling it regularly. The third theory is Retrieval Failure
Theory. This theory has talked about the new information that we memories never made into long-
term memory in the first place. For example, people actually can’t draw the pattern of a penny
detailly because we are not memorizing the detail of a penny in the first place. The last theory is the
Cue-Dependent theory. This theory tells us that some information will be forgotten by people is
because lack of retrieval cues. For example, some memory you might already forget will be recalled
by some sound, song, smell, and others.
