Operation/Production

Since the nature of the company is consumer goods trading, it mainly buys and sells
consumable goods to its customers. However, these consumable goods do not pertain to the ones
we can see in a grocery store because their products are not focused on the edible ones but those
consumable materials which are being used in a manufacturing company. Their main line of
products is personal protective equipment. Personal protective equipment, or "PPE," is
equipment worn to reduce exposure to dangers that cause significant industrial injuries and
illnesses (United States Department of Labor, n.d.). These injuries and illnesses can occur as a
result of interaction with chemical, radioactive, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other
workplace dangers. Gloves, safety glasses and shoes, earplugs or muffs, hard helmets,
respirators, or coveralls, vests, and full body suits are all examples of personal protective
equipment which are the main product line of the company. The main supplier of the company is
the Delta Plus company, which designs, manufactures and distributes a full range of Personal
Protective Equipment to equip people from head to toe. Delta Plus is a prominent global player,
chosen for its multi-specialized global offering, diverse range of innovative and cost-effective
goods, and proximity to its partners (Delta Plus, n.d.). Besides that, they also get their supplies
from different suppliers depending on their customers’ needs, such as in different divisorias
where they can source out products based on their customers’ requests. The company always
makes sure that they get their products from those suppliers who offer warranty because they
want to ensure their customers about the quality of their products and their capability to assist
them whenever there are some defects seen in the products. Quality control is being handled
personally by the owners because they are the ones incorporating directly between their suppliers
and their customers in terms of product concerns.

Marketing

When we interviewed the owners of the company and asked about their marketing
strategies, they first told us that before identifying marketing strategies, it is important to
determine first who is the target market of the company. In their case, their target market are
manufacturing companies who utilize consumable products such as PPE in their daily operation.
Besides manufacturing companies, they also provide products to companies like electric
cooperatives. In their attempt to expand their business, they also want to penetrate other markets
such as schools and other institutional companies. In terms of marketing, they mainly got their
current customer base from their own networks. Since the owner of the business is a previous
employee in a company that deals with oil and other things that is related with manufacturing, he
was able to build a relationship and gained the trust of other manufacturing companies that he
encountered while he was working. From there, he used these connections and networks to
introduce their business to these manufacturing companies and eventually became their suppliers
for their PPEs. However, as they want to expand the market scope of their business, the owners
think that it may be a great help to have a social media presence. Since they haven’t used social
media platforms to market their products, creating one will help in introducing the company to a
wider set of customers especially the business is just a start-up.

Accounting/Finance

Since one of the owners of the business handles admin in her previous company for a
long time, she has basic knowledge about recording transactions. Thus, she inputs the
information in an Excel template then she gives it to their accountant which is then tasked with
the preparation of financial statements and other tax requirements. Currently, their financial
statement is currently at work since the one-year reporting period has not yet concluded since the
start of their operation. However, they have running balances in their different accounts which
makes them aware of the current stand of their business especially when it comes to their
financial status. When we asked them about the financial performance of the business, they told
us that currently they have a taxable income of P__________________.

Human Resources

In terms of human resources, the business only has two employees which are also the
owners of the business. They are husband and wife who both contribute in managing and
operating their business. When we asked them if their human resources are sufficient for their
daily operations, they said that having the two of them is already enough to operate the business.
Since they are both knowledgeable about how a business works, they do not see a need for
another employee that will assist them in their operation. Another factor is that their business is
just a start-up, so it still does not need additional human resources. In fact, they told us that
hiring an employee will just make them incur additional expense which is the salary of the
employee and they still do not see any benefit that they can gain from hiring another one. The
company is also like a family business, so they handle the business matters within their family.
Their office is even located in their residential house where they do their office work and where
some of the sample products are located.
