ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: The Children of Sitio Mabolon

Conflict Identification
Sitio Mabolon's children suffer from severe malnutrition, with 22 being affected by the nutrient-
deficit disorders kwashiorkor and marasmus, two forms of malnutrition. The absence of
specialized medical care assistance at the location is another issue. These inadequacies resulted
from the children's poverty and the lack of government assistance. These children have been
consuming foods grown everywhere around their home, where they are always the same since
they cannot buy a complete diet meal that includes all of the vitamins and minerals that their
bodies require. Geographically, they are removed from stores that sell a broad range of products,
but their families cannot afford them. On the other hand, there are no barangay clinics or health
facilities where these residents may go for qualified medical attention.

Plan of Action
The government must create initiatives to address the country's problem of child malnutrition.
Actions must be performed that are specific and attainable, especially in isolated areas where
assistance is the only option. To harvest a wide variety of food and obtain a variety of vitamins
and minerals, the community of Sitio Mabolon must also endeavor to produce various crops and
fruits.

Reflection
Malnutrition among kids is a significant public health issue in the Philippines. A family will be
trapped in a cycle of poor health and poverty for the rest of their life if they suffer from long-term
malnutrition, which permanently impacts a child's physical and cognitive development.
Governments on a national and local level should seriously investigate both short- and long-term
solutions to the malnutrition issue.
