Identify the transformations of the geopolitical map of Europe and the Middle
East in the post-war period.
- The World War I consecrated the victory of democracies and put an end to
autocratic, anti-democratic and anti-nationalist empires;
- With the end of empires, new countries are born, others become independent,
and territories are recovered by the victorious powers (The Allies);
- The new countries are based on democratic and parliamentary principles;
- Extension of the borders of France and Poland;
- Restoration of the independence of Belgium and the Netherlands;
-Germany lost one-seventh of its territory and was split in two;
- Germany lost the territory of the Saar which passes to the administration of the
League of Nations;
- For a period of 15 years, the Saar region was under the administration of the
League of Nations and its coal mines were ceded to France as compensation for
the losses of the war.
The Peace Conference began in Paris, from January 1919, with the aim of
regulating peace and proceeding with the geopolitical reorganization of the first
post-war period. The preconditions for the negotiations were prepared by the
American president Woodrow Wilson, who presented them to Congress in
January 1918, in a speech in which he enunciated the famous Fourteen Points.
Wilson's Fourteen Points became a key part of the negotiations and gave the US a
central role in the new international order. In fact, this document, presented to
Congress, made the American president the spokesperson for the "liberals of the
world". The Fourteen Points embodied the peace, and Wilson invited both
winners and losers to accept a liberal, non-punitive settlement. In fact, the
document aimed to make the world safe, guarantee peace, justice and
transparency.
The first five points of the document presented by Wilson, defended general
principles, such as: fair and transparent diplomacy; freedom of navigation and
equal access to international trade; the promotion of disarmament and the
regulation of colonial claims. The following eight points focused on the problems
that remained pending for the post-war period: the evacuation of Russian
territory and Russia's freedom to decide its destiny; the restoration of Belgian
sovereignty; the return of the territory lost by France; the regularization of Italian
borders according to the principle of nationalities; the granting of independence
to the peoples of the Austro-Hungarian Empire; the restitution of the sovereignty
of the Turkish regions, with the guarantee of passage to the sea, and the creation
of a Polish State, also with access to the sea. The last point defended the
constitution of an association of nations that would defend the independence and
security of both large and small states (the League of Nations).
As
«liberais do mundo».
documento visava tornar o mundo seguro, garantir a paz, a justiça e a transparência.
O último ponto defendia a
3. Assess the importance of the League of Nations.
The League of Nations had several objectives:
-Ensure world peace and ensure prosperity;
- Keep international relations open and frank;
- Promoting the reduction of armaments;
- Ensuring respect for international law and established treaties;
- Guarantee respect for national minorities;
- Arbitrate conflicts between States;
- Promote international mutual assistance;
- Imposing sanctions on countries.
As exportações
5. Justify American supremacy in the post-war world.
Several factors contributed to American supremacy:
- The commitment to the rationalization of work, the consolidation of Taylorism
and standardization;
- The rise in salary;
- The growth of the tertiary sector;
- Industrial and financial concentration;
- Mass production.
The consumer society was affirmed and access to credit was facilitated.
The period of the "Roaring Twenties" was lived and the American model of
consumption and life conquered Europe.
Europa.
6. Understand the importance of the October revolution in the affirmation of a
new type of State.
It was with the October Revolution that the construction of Soviet Russia began.
Russia ceased to be a liberal and bourgeois republic and became the republic of
the soviets (of workers', soldiers and peasants' deputies), whereby democracy
was conceived as an expression of the interests of the proletariat.
interesses do proletariado.
7. Highlight Lenin's role in building the new Soviet state.
Lenin had the opportunity to put into practice the ideas of Marx and Engels, by
adapting the Marxist doctrine to the concrete situation of Russia, a predominantly
peasant society, with few workers. Lenin's application of Marxist ideas became
known as Marxism-Leninism, a central ideology in the construction of Soviet
Russia. According to Lenin, the revolution should be led by the Bolshevik party,
which assumed political power, as it was the revolutionary vanguard that
embodied the interests of the proletariat, which, according to Marxism-Leninism,
was composed of workers and peasants.
Segundo Lenine, a
Soviets- Was formed by people's delegates, soldiers and workers. During the
Russian revolution they were deliberative assemblies, composed of workers and
peasants, soldiers and sailors. They had an active intervention in society and
administration, from factories to fields, throughout Russia.
Alemanha e a Austria-Hungria.
Sovietes- Era formado por delegados do povo, soldados e operários. Durante a revolução russa eram
assembleias deliberativas, compostas por operários e camponeses, soldados e marinheiros. Tinham
10. Understand the break that operates in the confident and rationalist
mentality of the bourgeois society at the beginning of the century, due to the
shock of the First World War.
The transformations that followed the First World War resulted in:
- A new social experience; change in behavior and values, especially in the
western urban world;
- the "crazy 20s" were lived in which it was imperative to shock society and break
with the past;
-New social habits, new leisure and evasion spaces emerged.
The new means of communication have generalized consumption, leisure and
distractions.
The woman of the 20s assumes new functions and a new social role. The flapper
became the symbol of the urban woman of the 1920s.
After World War I:
-The values of the bourgeoisie of the second half of the 19th century definitely
went into crisis;
- A new experience and individual attitude emerged;
- The conflict of generations and cultures was accentuated.
The absence of rules; the relativism of values and the abandonment of traditional
morals led to social anomie.
ocidental;
passado;
-Os valores da burguesia da segunda metade do século XIX entraram definitivamente em crise;
a libido e a divisão tripartida da mente (id, ego e superego);
February Revolution 1917 (Russia)- Power was shared between two forces,
assuming the character of a “dual power”:
-The power of the Provisional Government, supported by the moderate and
liberal sectors.
-Opposition to the Provisional Government by the workers' and soldiers'
soviets.

-Looks for influences on primitive art.
-Expressionism seeks to create in a free, pure and authentic way.
-It criticizes bourgeois society.
-Represents themes considered marginal such as the circus, cabarets and the
brothel.
Futurism- Futurism developed, above all, in Italy, between 1909 and 1914. It
intended to break with the past and defended progress and the elements
associated with it as the great civilizational engine. He thus intended to put an
end to all atavisms and to glorify modern conquests. Futurism attacked
bourgeois culture and everything it represented from the past.
The idea of speed and movement is transposed to the work of art.
Aesthetically, the idea of action and dynamism is materialized on the canvas, in
the sculptural piece or in photography. Urbanity, the machine, the modern
lives constitute themselves as central elements of the futuristic works.
Conceitos importantes:
Aplicado a diversos
Estes factos relatados, segundo a psicanálise, continuam a influenciar a
possível alcançar as manifestações do inconsciente.
