WRITTEN REPORT

The SBA started with our teacher explaining to us the different sections of the English SBA.
Once we fully understood this, our group members were selected based on shared interest.
We got the chance to select the theme and our topic. Once we had all this in place we had to
do individual research to find evidence for our articles. The research for this project was done
with the dedicate use of the internet.

The project chosen for our English school Based Assessment is ‘child abuse’. The artifacts
that we believed best represented our group’s topic were carefully selected. Firstly, each
member chose their individual artifacts based on how well they related to their subtopics.
Secondly, we decided to use three printed artifacts from different group members in order to
complete the written report. We then analysed all artifacts and through a process of voting
and elimination, we found that these artifacts best represented our overall topic.

According to national association of Paediatric, child neglect is the most common and
deadliest form of child maltreatment. The consequences of child neglect are not benign when
compared with other forms of abuse. Child neglect is a serious problem affecting a lot of
children, and it is imperative that paediatric nurse population and intervene appropriately. A
neglected child is at risk to also experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. Cause of
child neglect may be due to it being a mental illness or the parent was neglected as a child
and therefore knows any better.

According to Google, child abuse also called cruelty to children is the wilful infliction of pain
and suffering on children through physical, sexual, or mistreatment. Prior to the 197cs the
term child abuse normally referred to any physical mistreatment, but since them it’s
application has expanded to include, in addition to inordinate physical violence, unjustifiable
verbal abuse to failure to finish proper shelter, nourishment, medical treatment, or emotional
support, incest and other cases or sexual molestation or rape and the use of children in
prostitution or pornography.

According to CDA (Child Development Agency), verbal abuse is one of the main reasons
why our young adults commit suicide, have anger issues, have fear and anxiety, depression,
stress and sleeping and eating disorder. Blake 2019 also stated that our parents contributes to
almost quarter of the verbal abuse on us just by being aggressive and not willing to listen to
our problems.
