INTRODUCTION:
This document describes the Employee’s sample database. The Employees sample database
provides a combination of a large base of data spread over 14 separate tables and consisting of
1001 records in total. The fourteen columns include the employee id, name of the employee, job
title, department, business unit, gender, ethnicity, age, hire date, annual salary, bonus percentage,
country, city, and exit date. Through this data set, we can interpret the relationship between various
variables. For example, it lets us know the relation between the ethnicity of people and the salary
each gets.

DATA VISUALISATION
The graphic display of information and data is known as data visualization. Data visualization
tools offer a straightforward approach to observing and analyzing trends, outliers, and patterns in
data by utilizing visual elements like charts, graphs, and maps. It renders insights accessible to the
human eye, allowing almost anyone to observe and comprehend what is happening. Data
visualization can tell a story when done effectively. This storytelling component is essential
because it turns your facts into usable information. Data visualization fills the gap between merely
having a lot of data and understanding how to use it to guide decisions and actions.

ABOUT THE DATASET

The dataset analyzed here deals with the employee sample dataset with the details of the employee
like their id number, date of joining, where they work, how much salary they receive, and a lot
more. Each row corresponds to employee details and includes the variables,

Name of the employees

Job titles - Jobs that the employee is currently working
Gender - Male and Female
Ethnicity - Asian, Caucasian, Latino, and Black
Business unit- Whether they work for corporate or manufacturing or specialized units or
research and development.
Age - The age of the employee.
Hire date - The employee, when hired
Annual salary - Amount they earn per annum.
Bonus - Amount of bonus like rewards, incentives they get in percent.
Country - The country where they work.
City - The city where the employee works.

BUSINESS PROBLEMS:
1. Are there any Gender disparities in the department?
2. Which country has more employees?
3. How the distribution of employees among the department is ensured and which
department has a higher and lower amount of employees?
4. Does ethnicity influence the salary?
5. Does age affect the salary?
6. Which ethnicity is higher, and is it co-related to the job role?
7. How is the annual salary distribution among the department found?
8. Which job role is getting higher pay, and which job role is affecting the pay?
9. Whether they are lacking in the part of recruiting the freshers?

ANALYZING THE PROBLEMS

1) Is there any Gender disparities in the department?
We want to know “If there are any gender disparities within the company's departments and the
total percentage of male and female employees in each department.” By identifying these variables
and analyzing the various factors, the company can inculcate strategies and differentiation into the
employee distribution model. Further, taking each variable and recognizing the importance of
gender equality in the workplace is very important. Each variable will impact different aspects of
the organization.
INTERPRETATION:
The IT department has the maximum number of male and female employees with a total
percentage of 25 and 23 percent respectively. The Accounting department has the minimum
number of male and female employees with a total percentage of 9 and 10 percent. Contradicting
the usual norms, we can find that the percentage of females in the sales department is higher
compared to males, and the percentage of males in the HR department is higher than females.

2) Which country has more employees?

The Problem is to identify which country has more employees. By identifying these variables and
analyzing the various factors, the company can know about the distribution of employees among
the countries.
INTERPRETATION
From the above chart, we can infer that the United States has a higher number of employees and
ranks first, then China ranks second. This shows that many employees are likely to work in the
United States compared to other countries like China and Brazil.

3) How the distribution of employees among the department is ensured, and which
department has a higher and lower number of employees?
Another problem in a company is the distribution of employees in various departments. The
proportion of employees in all the departments in an organization should be taken into
consideration. If the number of employees in a certain department is more than what is needed, it
will have an inverse effect on the company.
INTERPRETATION:
In the given company, we can see that the IT department consists of the maximum count of people.
This can be divided into two IT units by the company in the future for better functioning of the
departments and to avoid overcrowding issues.
Further, the marketing department is one of the crucial components of any firm that is responsible
for the future aspects of sales, reach, and revenue generation of the firm. Here, we can see that the
marketing department has a lower count. Hence the company can focus on developing a better
marketing department.
Further, the detailed count of employees in various departments and ethnicities can be calculated
using text analysis:
❖ Finding the count of employees in various departments using text analysis

INTERPRETATION:
The highest number of employees from engineering come under the IT department with a count
of 158 and the lowest count of employees is 96, who belong to the accounting department.

❖ Finding the count of employees of various ethnicities using text analysis

INTERPRETATION:
Through this text analysis, we can identify that the maximum number of employed people is
situated in Asia, followed by Caucasian and Latino, and the minimum number of unemployed
people is black.

4) Does ethnicity influence the salary?

The next problem to identify is salary distribution among people of various ethnicities. Every
person should get an equal salary irrespective of their place of origin.
INTERPRETATION:
With the help of this bar chart, we can infer that Asians are getting the highest pay compared to
others. The blacks are getting a really low annual salary, a severe issue that should be considered.

5) Does age affect the annual salary of the employees?

CORRELATION:
Correlation is a statistical measurement of the relationship between two variables. Possible
correlations range from +1 to –1. A zero correlation indicates that there is no relationship between
the variables. A correlation of –1 indicates a perfect negative correlation, meaning that as one
variable goes up, the other goes down.
INTERPRETATION:
Here, the comparison between age and annual salary is established through correlation.

Null Hypothesis:
There is no relationship between age and annual salary
Alternative Hypothesis:
There is a relationship between age and annual salary.

From the data, we came to know that the null hypothesis is strictly accepted since the F value is
greater. And from the graph, we learned that the line is linear and the value for correlation is
negative (-0.0235).
So we can conclude that there is no relationship between the age and annual salary of the employee.
This clearly shows that the age is purely based on the designation, not based on the age of the
employee.
REGRESSION:
Regression analysis assesses the relationship between the outcome variable and one or more
variables. The outcome variable is the dependent or response variable, and the risk elements and
co-founders are known as predictors or independent variables. The dependent variable is shown
by “y,” and the independent variables are shown by “x” in regression analysis.
Since there is a negative correlation, we don’t have a regression for this data.

6) Which ethnicity is higher, and is it co-related to the job role?

The next problem is to identify the distribution among the ethnicity. This is to know how many
people belong to their particular ethnicity.

INTERPRETATION:
From this graph, we come to know that Asian Ethnicity is high. It ranks first and almost 40.4%,
which clearly shows that most of the employees belong to Asian Ethnicity. So most of our
organizations prefer recruiting Asian employees rather than other ethnic employees
7)How is the annual salary distribution among the department found?
The next issue is to find the annual salary distribution among various departments in the
organization. It can be done using a scatter plot diagram.

INTERPRETATION:
We can interpret from the above chart that most people fall in the salary range of $5,00,000 to
$10,00,000 in all the departments. The number of employees in the respective department
decreases as the salary increases.

8) Which job role is getting higher pay, and what job role is affecting the pay?
The next problem we can identify here is regarding the job titles and the respective salaries each
gets.
INTERPRETATION:
The highest annual salary for the designation is for the vice president, paid 222195.17 USD,
followed by the director and senior manager. And the lowest for an IT coordinator and system
analyst, where they paid 48024.25 USD per annum.
9) Whether they are lacking in the part of recruiting the freshers?
Here the problem is employees are of different ages. My assumption is that they are lacking in the
part of recruiting freshers.
INTERPRETATION
Here it clearly shows that the people from the age of 45 were there in the organization. It shows
that there is not much concentration on the fresher's part because freshers are the ones who will be
very updated and the age for them is basically an energetic age which will be very helpful in doing
the work hence, they can concentrate more on recruiting freshers in the company.

SUMMARY STORY:
This analysis clearly shows the employee distinctiveness in the dataset. The analysis can be carried
out by examining the data in the dataset. This dataset consists of more females than males. And
there are various departments like IT, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Sales, and Engineering
where most of the employees belong to the IT department. There are many designations, and job
roles throughout the departments like Directors, System analysts, and Account representatives, and
most of the employees are directors in their specific department, which is almost 12.1%. Of this
dataset, most of the employees belong to the Asian ethnicity. The most paid job is for the Vice
President, where they have been paid an annual salary of $222,197.15. And we also came to know
that the salary issued is purely based on the designation and not on the basis of the age of the
employee. There are various business units like Corporate, Manufacturing, Research and
Development, and Specialty products where they have almost the same number of employees but
the specialty products have a high number of 26.90%. From the details, we came to know that
most of the employees were working in the United States followed by China.

RECOMMENDATIONS

● One of the issues we can see among the employees is the irregular distribution of the annual
salary among employees of various ethnicities. Here, we can infer that Asians are getting
the highest pay compared to others. The blacks are getting a really low annual salary, a
severe issue that should be considered. Every person should get an equal salary irrespective
of their place of origin and, therefore, this issue should be seriously taken into
consideration.
● The marketing department is one of the crucial components of any firm that is responsible
for the future aspects of sales, reach, and revenue generation of the firm. Here, we can see
that the marketing department has a lower count. Hence the company can focus on
developing a better marketing department.

CONCLUSION
We have identified different factors by which our company deals with employee data. By using
various tools of JMP, we were able to make different visualizations and interpretations from those
graphs. Using that interpretation, we can change our design structure and organizational practices
to improve employee conditions. Finding the relation between different variables and comparing
using JMP tools made analysis much more manageable.
Thus, the dataset has various information about the employee, employee name, where they work,
how much they earn, and what kind of job they do like that. This information has been used to
infer and interpret meaningful insights in the form of statistics and graphs. Problems were
identified using this, along with suggestions for it.
Overall, the employee performance is so good as they get a nominal and reasonable amount of
salary and bonus. Also, they have broken the stereotypes when it comes to job roles, age, and
salary. The majority of them get bonuses and we can say that they are very well satisfied with their
work and very much focused and committed towards their job.
