Examination Instructions for CB1 and CB2

You are responsible for reading and ensuring you have understood the Examinations Handbook and
Assessment Regulations before attempting the examination.

Please read the below instructions carefully. Any instruction not followed may result in your exam
paper not being marked.

Setting up and formatting your answers

1. Open a new Microsoft Word document at the start of your exam.

2. Save immediately and include your ARN and subject code of the exam in the file name
Example: 5544333 CB1

3. This is now your examination script. All questions must be answered in this script.
Do not include your name or ARN anywhere in the examination script.

4. For constructed answer questions, each question must start on a new page of your examination
script.

5. For multiple-choice questions (MCQs), all MCQs can be answered on the same page of your
examination script. You must choose and include only one answer option in your Word document.
You DO NOT need to include any workings and partial marks are NOT awarded for any workings
included.

6. Clearly label each answer with the question number and question part number (where applicable).

7. You can use Excel to help you with calculations. You can copy and paste your workings directly from
Excel into your examination script. Do not copy any excel formula (eg SUM, IF, AVG etc) as part of
your answers. The calculation must be shown in full, otherwise full marks may not be awarded. Do
not copy/insert an Excel (or similar) ‘sheet’ into your examination script.

8. Type your workings and answers into the examination script using standard keyboard typing. You DO
NOT need to use notation that requires specialised equation editing (for example the Equation Editor
functionality in Word).

9. Clear any stored data and/or programs facilities before any calculator is used.

10. Do not include links to any other documents or files as part of your answer.

11. Save your examination script regularly throughout the exam.

Uploading your answer document

12. Once the allocated examination time has finished save and close your examination script, you are
prohibited from continuing to work on your answers. This includes reviewing and formatting your
examination script.

13. You have 30 minutes to upload your Word answer document. It must be uploaded within the
allocated time. Failure to do so could result in your Word answer document being not marked.

14. Upload your Word answer document only as a Microsoft Word document (.docx)

15. DO NOT change the file name of the script during the upload time, as this will update the last
modified time of the document which could raise a red flag that you continued to work on your
answers during the upload time.
