DEAR REVEREND FATHERS AND MONSIGNORI

Vicariate of Tacloban
Archdiocese of Palo

Greetings in the Glory of our Lord!

Christ is Alive! This undying exhortation inspired by Pope Francis’ Encyclical for the young people
resonate in the life of the Youth Ministries of the Vicariate of Tacloban. We continue to witness the
reawakening of our young people and the ministries from their slumber. Young people who arise
from anxiety, fear and failure, from despair and helplessness. Strengthened by the Lord’s grace, we
took a bold step to bring to fulfilment our vision and dreams of our young ministry.

We have seen the spirits of the young people renewed with every promise of any gathering that
feeds on their desire for friendship, camaraderie, and fellowship. After the exciting launching of the
Archdiocesan Summer Youth Camp last April 16, 2023, we, on the Vicariate of Tacloban shall keep
the momentum going and hope to implement the programs and activities we have envisioned for
the ministry. Thus, we ask for your support as you send your ministers to take part in the VICARIATE
YOUTH DAY on APRIL 29, 2023, SATURDAY from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM at BENONG’s BEACH RESORT in
Payapay, San Jose, Tacloban City.

The Vicariate Youth Day is an annual gathering offered for the young people to come together as
one body, united in a journey towards intimacy with Christ. It has been 3 years since the last VYD
due to the pandemic, and now we wish to revive this joyful gathering, to hold on to tradition, but
more so to give our ministers, especially the new blood a taste of all that is beautiful in our young
family. This year’s VYD which is co-hosted by the St. Roch the Healer Parish and St. Josemaria Escriva
Mission Station is anchored on the theme “Keep the Feast” inspired by the first epistle of St. Paul to
the Corinthians “Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice
and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:8). St. Paul’s
metaphor might be a far cry from the facts of our environment and to the experiences of our heart,
but the metaphor of the festival goes deeper than a fight or race, it does not ignore the strenuous
side of the Christian life, it is a declaration that after all, beneath all, above all, central to all, the
Christian life is a glad festival, when it is the life that it ought to be.

It is only through your guidance and provision that we can share this joy to our fellow young
servants. Participating in this activity does entail important financial and logistical preparations such
as the Registration Fee (10.00 per participant), cottage rental fee (600.00 per parish) and individual
parish preparation for food and transportation. Details of the program and other information will be
found below for your reference.

We thank you in advance for your support; it is only through your accompaniment that the spirits of
the ministry of the young become truly dynamic, vibrant, and alive. We are confident that God
alone will repay the goodness of your heart, just as we beg Him in your behalf. With our whole
hearted thanks and warmest regards, we remain,

Yours in Christ,

KRISTEL DOONE Q. PEDROZA
