1.General Information:
The permanent magnetic belt separator ensures automatic separation of

ferromagnetic materials from belt conveyor. Overband magnetic separators can be
mounted on the conveyor system easily . Magnetic separators can take ferromagnetic
materials from the conveyor flow and dont affect to the main system. This
ferromagnetic materials can be thrown out of the conveyor by separator easily.
The size of the smallest ferromagnetic particle that can be separated by the separator
depends on various factors:
a) Separator distance from belt conveyor

b) Product pile height
c) Particle volume
d) Particle mass
e) Conveyor velocity
All non-ferrous materials may not separated by this separator. Should be used metal
detector for non-ferrous materials.
MBS Permanent Magnetic Overband Separator has Certificate of Conformity that refence directive
is 2006/42/EC Machinery Safety Directive Annex-1 and reference standarts are EN:ISO 12100:2010,
EN ISO 13850:2015, EN ISO 14120:2015, EN 60204-1:2018.

3.1. General warnings
Warning
Separator produce strongly magnetic field. Don’t work any person

near the separator and don’t place any moving ferromagnetic
metarial near the separator..
Don’t touch the magnet surface when it works. Be ensure the belt
motor shut down before the maintanence
Any recording devices operating on magnetic principle such as

credit cards, conputer hard disc, video tapes , etc. may be damaged
by the magnetic field. Keep such products at a distance of least 1
meter from the separator.
Magnetic separator occurs strong magnetic field. Pacemaker users

should be keep away.
Don’t approach the magnet with ferromagnetic materials.

Separator usage and maintenance must be done with competent.

3.2. Transporting and installation warnings
Magnetic separator is send one piece to move magnet easily for

the operation. Transported on the wood pallet leg to move easily.
Separator is hang up with hanger points and transporting legs pull
of when separator is using. Please keep this transporting legs for
next transportings.
Magnetic separator must be controlled for the transporting demages

before the start up. If any damage is seen by user, must be contact
with the contact person from BAS.
Don’t carry the separator from the bottom of the magnetic

separators, can be damaged.
You must store the separator indoor and keep from water and
sunshine. If its exposed in a long time, please replace the
separators belt
You must run rollers and bearings each 3 month to protect them.

3.3. Start up and adjustment warnings
Ensure grounding is done before operating the equipment against

electrical hazards.
Before the first start-up, it should be ensured that all the assembly
operations completed.
3.4. Operation warnings
There is no audible or light warning system that indicates that the

equipment is working. For this reason, the person who switch on the
equipment make sure that the equipment is not maintained at that
moment.
After power cut in any reason, should be ensured that the equipment
does not work by itself when power back. It is recommended to turn
off the switch in case of power failure.

3.5. Maintenance and service warnings
Before maintenance, power cut with the connected main switch and
“DURING MAINTENANCE” plate should be placed in equipment’s
near.
When the equipment is de-energized, it must be ensured that all

parts of the equipment have stopped before an action.
If the equipment needs to be operated during maintenance,

protective equipments such as gloves, glasses, and hard hat should
be used. Protective gloves should be used during maintenance. It
should be taken into consideration that some parts of the product
(motor, etc.) are of a weight that a person cannot carry, and if
necessary, appropriate transportation equipment should be used.
3.6. Periodic Warnings
Corrosion that may occur in all parts of the equipment over time
should be checked periodically.
Dynamic parts and bearings with moving parts should be regularly

lubricated.
All electrical equipment (switches, cables, fasteners) of the machine

should be checked periodically.

4. Separator Installation
Separator hanging distance is critical for magnetic field performance. This value is
determined by measuring between the bottom of the separator body and the surface
of the conveyor.
The separator should be hung at the recommended distance in order to obtain the
desired efficiency. The separator should be hang as much as possbile shortest
distance that the cathched metals thrown easily from the conveyor.
Care should be taken not to include any ferromagnetic material in the separator
magnetic field (below the separator). It will cause the magnetic field to decrease and
prevent the efficient use of the separator.
The separator belt rotation direction of the separator should be adjusted so that the
ferromagnetic parts are thrown on the motor side.
The separator should be parallel with conveyor angle. It means max magnetic area
should effect conveyor surface.
5.Electrical Connection:
Necessary voltage supply values are available on the motor label. Please provide
the electric power input to the motor with the suitable cross-section cable. Then the
motor rotation direction should be cheked.

7. Routine Maintenance
Preventive maintenance guide is prepared for long years operation of separators.

This guide allows MBS Series Overband Separators operate in safe.
NO DAILY CONTROL CHECK PROCEDURE

8. Comissioning:
Before start;
• There is no deterioration in the separator body.

• No crushing and oil leakage on the motor
• The separator belt is strong and tight enough
• It should be checked that the electrical panel and the materials inside are intact.
After making the necessary controls, commissioning should be started by making

electrical connections by the operator. The system must be put into operation in order
and checked. Do not approach the separator with ferromagnetic material due to the
high magnetic field formed while the separators belt works.
Belt is set right regime before shipment, it can be re adjusted at the site are if
necessary via secondary drum.
