The term "outdoor recreation" refers to a planned
assortment of leisure activities that one engages in
outside, where he or she can interact with nature. The
Latin word "recreare" (which means to be refreshed) is
the source of the English word "recreational activity."

Outdoor recreation includes a wide range of pursuits,
including land (camping, hiking, and mountaineering),
water (swimming, diving, and surfing), and air
(parasailing, paragliding, and skydiving).

While the value of outdoor leisure may vary from
person to person, here are a few justifications for
its significance: it is the best source of vitamin D; it
lowers anxiety; it enhances sleep; and many more.
