DURS Reflection

Looking back on DURS, I have an overall positive outlook on the process. To say I have learned
at least one new thing would be an understatement. Not only did I use what I learned last
semester in EDEL 430 and my student teaching experience, I also learned many new useful bits
of information from Weebly itself and what it takes to set up a cohesive website. There were
many challenges that I faced through this process. The main challenge I faced was learning this
new technology tool itself. I had used Weebly in undergrad before, during my sophomore year in
a tech class at ASU. The purpose that we used DURS for was completely different from my use
for Weebly in undergrad and to be honest, I forgot most of the functions that I learned so this was
one of the biggest challenges that I had to overcome. It made me feel more confident and
supported to know that a few of my peers also used Weebly for their website so if I had a
question we were able to help each other. During this process, I enjoyed going week by week and
adding different elements to our site and being able to have creative freedom with it. Another
challenge I ran into was in week 14 where we had to include a teacher guided presentation. I
have never voice recorded a lesson before so finding a technology element that worked best for
google slides and the content of my presentation was the biggest challenge. In addition to that,
learning how to use a brand new form of technology and figuring out how to embed it into my
DURS site followed that challenge. Luckily, I was able to overcome this challenge through
trying out the suggested websites listed in week 14 and also exploring my own options. Overall,
the DURS project was super useful for my progression to be on my way as a future teacher and I
will use what I learned from it in my professional future as well as the technology knowledge
that I learned from EDEL 511 this semester.
