Palmquist Law Professor Named New Chair of ABA Accreditation Committee

Michael J. Henry, a law professor at Palmquist University in Hosea, Wis., has been appointed
chair of the accreditation committee by the American Bar Association. Henry will reside as chair
of the committee for one year. Henry will oversee the ABA’s annual conferences in New York
during July 2023. Henry, the previous committee vice president, has diligently served on the
committee for six years. Upon receiving this honor, Henry stated, “I’m deeply honored and will
serve to the best of my ability.”
The Accreditation Committee, the ABA’s most essential committee, supervises the process of
accreditation for U.S. law schools. In the U.S., more than 40 states deem that anyone practicing
law should graduate from an accredited law school. The committee consists of 19 legal
educators, all of whom serve within the community.
Henry has taken great precedence at the University and in the field of law. Starting his career at
Palmquist in 1999, Henry was the general counsel of the university from 2003-2008 and dean
from 2011-2015. Henry obtained a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a law degree
from the University of Michigan.
