Part 1. Short Answers.
(1) Puppy depression is very common. But Mike is not talking about the puppy being
depressed — he’s talking about the new owner. For example, some people have
expectations that they’re going to be cuddling with the puppy right away, but then the
puppy just wants to be alone. This is normal and Mike suggests that you give the dog time.
(2) Meal planning is important because you don’t want your dog to become obese, and
you also don’t want your house to be covered in poop.
(3) You just can’t let your puppy play on leash with other pups. It’s gonna turn into trouble,
leashes are gonna get tangled, or someone’s gonna get bitten. It’s not good if you want a
well-behaved puppy.
(4) Mike gives his dog, Bear, a bath after he rolls around and gets covered in mud. You
really shouldn’t use human products on your dog. No to human shampoo and no to human
hair dryers. You should use a special dog dryer — it’s not too hot and it essentially blows
the water off the dog.
(5) Mike says that the cost struggle of owning a puppy is real. Outside of paying for basic
pet supplies, you also have to plan for vet visits and vaccinations. And if your pet gets sick,
the bills really rack up. In fact, Bear’s sick right now and needs antibiotics. This is expensive
on any budget.
